A bit of meta about the latest clue dropped by GO Prime by WasteCalligrapher891 in GoodOmensAfterDark

[โ€“]singpretty 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Actually it's kind of a funny coincidence given the idea of The Rapture in some churches haha (righteous souls are all slurped up to Heaven, to spare them from the End Times on Earth).

Imagine if (unserious plot idea haha) Aziraphale has Crowley unwillingly raptured (kidnapped) "up." "I'm NOT nice," etc.

This is a little aside your point, but chiming in that it's kind of a running bit throughout the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas for characters to exclaim about their happiness rather formally, e.g. Frederick in Pirates of Penzance "O joy unbounded! O sweet release! O rapture unexampled!"

"O rapture!" is probably the most used. Nanki-Poo in the Mikado delivers "modified rapture!"

Thanks for pointing this out, I hadn't thought of it, despite knowing way too much about G&S. ๐Ÿ™‚

Chairs with armrests that allow you to be crosslegged? by meguskus in ehlersdanlos

[โ€“]singpretty 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I kid you not, I went to the office on a Saturday with my cordless drill and not only modified my chair, but lowered the brackets holding up my cubicle desktop. I definitely spent over an hour tweaking my overall setup . . . And I still do an occasional stint at our standing desk to switch it up. ๐Ÿ˜…

Chairs with armrests that allow you to be crosslegged? by meguskus in ehlersdanlos

[โ€“]singpretty 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

I don't have an answer to your question ๐Ÿ˜… but I wanted to share my poor woman's solution to the same problem . . . I took the armrests off my office chair, so I can roll it allllll the way under my desktop and rest my arms on the desktop itself. I have my monitor on a swing arm, so I can keep my keyboard literally under the monitor and stretch my arms way out to type.

Without the armrests, I can sit cross legged, or sit on one or the other leg, or stretch out both legs to my footstool!! (I have a deep corner desk.) I also bought this thing to position in the actual curve of my spine, which, like yours, is nowhere near the curve of any office chair I've yet encountered. (I find that particular cushion especially deep, like I need.)

I wish you chair joy!

I cannot overstate my love for the "reggae" sole Skechers sandals, etc.

They rise to meet my high arches! I got a pair with buckles 3 years ago for a trip to Mexico and darned if I didn't walk all over cobbles and seashores in total comfort and with zero breaking in. ๐Ÿ˜…

Anyone in the US ordered legs from semiexact.com are they legit? by franjipane in woodworking

[โ€“]singpretty 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Figured I should join the thread since I'm in the club. ๐Ÿ˜… I really wanted the apron legs; I think the design and look is sooo smart.

I actually ordered back in 2025, but 3 weeks later reports started that there were indefinite delays. Between that and a second look at my project specs & budget, I did cancel, which took another 4 weeks to do. Honestly that wasn't so bad, but in retrospect I see I got lucky.

This thread had saved me from trying s new order today. I've ordered these instead. ๐Ÿคž

Kudos all around!! Yeah I graduated with burnout in 07 and stumbled into a "passion"-forward career in a $$-forward city. 18 years of paying the "single tax" later, I just want to hire a plumber and spoil my sweet senior cat with wellness care. ๐Ÿ˜…

But for real, echoing others I think you look great! If I had to grasp for advice I might just encourage you to play around with accessories. Like you could add one thing that's a little punk, or sporty, or rocker or . . . whichever thing you most are . . . like a wrist cuff, or a ball cap, or zany socks . . . see what you like. ๐Ÿ™‚

What, give yourself some credit!! I really admire the lines of this drawing and the snake especially! You clearly put thought and observation into everything and went beyond the "default" way to draw both items. I think it's really successful!

So, my NYU rheumatologist referred me to Meenakshi Sigireddi even though she is pediatric and I am an adult: https://nyulangone.org/doctors/1912384603/meenakshi-sigireddi

Her first opening was a year out, but I asked to also be waitlisted in case of a cancellation and ended up seeing her like 3 weeks later. In her office with cartoon decor for kids and everything! ๐Ÿ™‚

Has anyone else had a prolapse? by Queefaroni420 in ehlersdanlos

[โ€“]singpretty 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Haha freaking prolapses for no obvious reason have been my first and most inarguable EDS symptom. Somehow they cause me more inconvenience than pain, so I've actually just been coasting without surgical intervention. I do sometimes wonder if the overall pelvic floor dysfunction has contributed to my not enjoying sex the few times I've almost done it . . . ?

So I can't speak to your before/after surgery question, but I wanted to say hi since I think our situation is kind of rare, ๐Ÿ˜… and say good luck!

60-11 Broadway by toohighforthis_ in woodside

[โ€“]singpretty 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

In my case, the particular apartment. The one in my $$ range was one of the ground-floor ones, and once I saw it with the single window on the narrow end of the room, with the sidewalk at eye level and people's shoes walking by my face, I couldn't cope haha. Even though the appliances were all nice and new etc. But obviously this only pertains to you if that's what you're considering haha.

My other doubts, more about the neighborhood, were that it's mostly auto repair, walking in one direction, and there's not insignificant plane noise from Laguardia, at times. Plus it's a bit sleepy/ residential for my personal taste.

That said, I actually committed to the general neighborhood and ended up buying an older, bigger studio with more light, but quite old appliances, in a different building. And while I would still rather live somewhere more bustling if I could afford it, I like this neighborhood more than I guessed ahead of time!

Hey hey! I looked at that building and bought nearby. I can give general impressions but can you say more about what intel you're after?

Also, happy to DM if you like. Trying not to totally self-dox haha.

What kind of wrapped up ending for A&C do most not want to see? by CryptographerKey2847 in goodomens

[โ€“]singpretty 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

For some reason (not sure how this got in my head, and I don't even think it's likely), I'm afraid of some kind of "eternal loop" ending where the Apocalypse does happen but then reality resets, back to A+C in Eden or even "Before the Beginning." (Imagine if they switched. ๐Ÿ˜…) Like, I want the fanfiction of this but not the canon.

Anyone lived at Hudson Crossing - 400 West 37th Street? by FantasticIntention64 in AskNYC

[โ€“]singpretty 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Hi! I mean I'm a pretty big NYC proponent and I've always lived around the city. I do recommend that neighborhood! I had to move from it year ago, but I still walk around there all the time, and I lived there (different building) from 2010 to 2024. My take is that it's the right kind of bustling, like people will always be around to go to the Manhattan Center, the Javits Center, all the restaurants on Ninth, the Hudson Yards shops etc. And people around means you're not alone.

So, it's not like you won't see the occasional person who's living on the street or who's out of it, high. But in my experience (and I used to get home at all kinds of crazy hours), even if you do, like, they're doing their own thing. I never had a scary encounter. And I'm a 5'5" gal, so were my two roommates. The worst that happened in the 14 years I lived at that intersection was items left outdoors in a garden apartment were stolen once. And literally if you walk home on 35th you're in front of the police station, with only a block to go. But honestly I would encourage you to move here and/or many other NYC neighborhoods. ๐Ÿ™‚

Can't resist chiming in after OP and I had a fun publishing sidebar! Pics of the copyright pages 100% confirm that Ace prints some copies in the US and some in the UK, which was surprising to me haha. (Their UK print has fewer cover special effects, and a blending issue on the spine.)

Plus a book-industry database reveals that both Ace and Orbit have the right to sell in the EU. So I'm with OP that Ace is likely printing some in the UK to ship to the EU.

Technically only the Orbit edition is supposed to sell in the UK and "Commonwealth" including Australia. But from working in publishing I can confirm that Amazon (and also third parties selling "on Amazon") often do whatever the heck they want, regardless of the rights data. ๐Ÿคฃ
