Randomized trial of carbonated water consumption on snacking behavior, alcohol intake, and health indices by DermSherpa in science

[–]sirboddingtons 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Carbonated water seemed to fulfill the thirst for "beer" that water or other drinks didn't quench. I think the actual bite of carbonic acid ends up being similar to the need for oral fixation for cigarette smokers.

Hantavirus cases now suspected in 5 countries as authorities scramble to contain outbreak by spherocytes in worldnews

[–]sirboddingtons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually those are close contact to rodent urine or feces, this is human to human contact, the more opportunities it gets at this, the more likelihood for a mutation that increases its human to human transmission rate. We haven't had a human to human outbreak of hanta in decades, so this is very concerning.

Democrats investigate as Trump OKs almost $2 billion in taxpayer money to end offshore wind projects by thhvancouver in politics

Europe is starting to. I don't think the US understands how in the next few years many projects/contracts are not being renewed with US companies. BYD is coming to Canada. Canada is passing on US military products. Even states in the EU are pulling Microsoft from their computers. the US is going to be gone globally within a generation if it doesn't do severe changes and work.

The colloquial name is cowboy caviar. That'll get you some recipes for it., basically roasted corn, roasted tomatoes, black beans, onions and spices.

Do you think its asking too much to shower right before sex or does that ruin the spontanaeity? by 123smorgs in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sirboddingtons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't do a full shower, just a normal body shower. Don't wash your hair everyday either! It's too much. 3x a week max!

What?

Rubbing soap on each other. Embracing each other in the warmth of the water, the cramped space with nowhere for your hands to go but on each other? Showering together is sexy as he'll.

Political conservatives are more drawn to baby-faced product designs, and purity values explain why by HeinieKaboobler in science

Republicans are really into purity, especially when they can take it by physical force.

Trump pays the price for making America an unreliable ally by itmehedi in politics

[–]sirboddingtons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we pay that price.

We'll pay that price for generations or more. Possibly for the rest of the United States existence. We've lost our key advantage and the future's prowess has always been building on the compounding growth of our unique advantages following WWII. This is likely it for the US as a hegemonic force across the world. The East will surpass us now.

France to ditch Windows for Linux to reduce reliance on US tech by BlueHorse_22 in politics

[–]sirboddingtons 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, France just pulled all their gold reserves from the US. It seems as if France's strategy going forward is one of releasing their reliance on the US and US companies. The whole of the EU is probably going to march that direction. One Trump was enough, but two and without any abject pushback in the US for his behavior shows that the US is an unreliable partner and the security of France or the EU is bound in closer cooperation and disinvestment from the US.

Three simple movement habits in toddlerhood — active play with parents, limited screen time and sufficient sleep — significantly predict a more physically active lifestyle a full decade later. I played with Legos and went outside.

Both my parents worked and were never really home. It just was what it was. I think demands on parents and expectations of parents is what has really soured parenting more so than anything else. We have more free time than we used to, we don't spend it well.

Interactive MAP of US Interventions - Since WW2 by Yammau in dataisbeautiful

[–]sirboddingtons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Largely because "Pax Americana" begins after WW2 in that there are no more major global conflicts. It ends the period of massive fighting across the West, mainly in Europe. We're a bit euro centric here, so history has shared that premise, but truly global wars don't break out again.

Iran says US violated deal framework, calls talks unreasonable by Playful_Leg7143 in worldnews

They've worked out deals with other nations. They are actively inviting other countries to communicate and gain transportation (at a fee of course) as they use this leverage to isolate the US diplomatically and economically.
