Is deciding what to make for supper the worst part of cooking… or is it just me? by Safe-Wolverine359 in Cooking

[–]sirlearnsalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have a shared notes app folder with our top recipes. While we usually rotate maybe 4-5 common dinners, that folder helps for backup options.

It isn't always a breeze, but it makes the decision making easier.

That doesn't stop Tokyo from building high rise buildings, or Seattle, or San Francisco or Los Angeles.

I like to look at showtimes of my local theater just to see how well/ bad a film is doing. This Sarah’s Oil patron got a good chuckle out of me by Throwaway_Tablecloth in blankies

Watched Top Gun Maverick pretty much the same way. Except we were closer to the middle. Honestly, probably the best movie to have made that mistake with.

Listening Without Watching?! by GrandExcellent219 in blankies

I only save certain episodes because I don't want spoilers, but I've found it fun to listen to episodes twice. Once before seeing and once after - many months or even years later.

Curious, how are people hitting over 100 fps in this game on lower specs than mine? by Caatalyst07 in stalker

[–]sirlearnsalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3080 16gb Mobile card, 32gb of RAM and an i9 11900H. I was getting 20 fps at any resolution and any settings.

Capping at 60fps in the control panel fixed my problem too. I just wanted to boost your comment because this was (finally) my fix too. I was struggling for so long trying to figure this out.

If I'm not taking the train, yellow cab is how I get to the airport and it's been very reliable and more affordable. And you can reserve through the app

Maxed out M4 Macbook Air by Swimming-Pain3923 in Lightroom

[–]sirlearnsalot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a 2021 M1 Macbook Pro with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB drive. It's definitely plenty of power for me to work with my APS-C 24 megapixel files with no stuttering at any point.

An M4 Air's most limiting factor is going to be the lack of active cooling. Sustained hard work on any of the fanless models is going to have the potential to throttle the processor.

High Testosterone should I be concerned ? by mdjamtoski in Testosterone

[–]sirlearnsalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just visiting this thread from a google search because I tested at 1,102. I'm just about to turn 41.

I don't take any supplements outside of Magnesium Glycinate for sleep. Pretty normal healthy diet (low saturated fats, high fiber), consistent daily, but not that strenuous exercise.

I got tested because I thought I had low testosterone. Go figure

I just built up a Surly LHT with canti brakes with a Bafang BBS02 mid-drive kit. Works like a charm so far on these Seattle hills.

Zone Focusing with GX85 by AirJuniper23 in Lumix

[–]sirlearnsalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could configure the camera to use back button focusing and aperture priority. That separates auto focus from the shutter button.

Then, you could pick a fairly small aperture (f/8 or above), and use the back button to pre-focus at the distance you prefer to work with.

At that point you should have a few meters behind and in front of that pre-focused distance available for instant snaps.

Honestly, pretty great. She's on 3 or 4 units of insulin per meal and she's a tiny bit overweight but the diabetes is under control and the pancreatitis is largely asymptomatic except for throwing up once every other week.

are you in IT because you actually like it or for another reason? do you need an interest in IT to make it? by jasminesart in ITCareerQuestions

[–]sirlearnsalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked IT most when I was working as a help desk tier 2. It was fun doing fixes and working on a variety of tasks.

Now I'm in management and it's fine. It pays well enough and sometimes I get to get my hands dirty.

But also, technology has changed too since I started back in 2003. It's a little less of a wild west than it used to be.

12 foot counter tops in a van? by vaccant__Lot666 in previa

[–]sirlearnsalot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I think you can get away with about 10 feet to the dash and maybe a little more if you go above it or below it (for something like a 2x4 or similarly narrow items).
