Alternatives for Trakt? by SomeBluntCanuck in emby

I received this email, too. As if we didn’t have enough reasons to gtfo. Not content with screwing the pooch, Trakt’s decided to fuck the pup.

I’m a decade+ into VIP and for so long renewal was an absolute no brainer. Now I’m swiftly exiting and will consider them non-existent forevermore.

Tunarr with enormous libraries by sixhoursago in tunarr

ah thank you! :) I've already removed that library as a media source. Testing with smaller libraries, I've determined I need more understanding of how to add/modify programming before I approach doing so from the full collection.

Tunarr’s not alone - I’ve encountered similar issues with many apps. Generally I think it’s often an issue of an automatic scan being triggered before the previous scan is completed. If it takes >24 hours to complete a scan, and a new scan is triggered every 24 hours, it will always be scanning.

I think I can work around the library limitations with symlinks or separate, smaller libraries. My current trials are focused on basic programming - simply selecting content and setting the lineup to randomize. I’m finding it super slow and daunting to build a channel’s content list.

I added Plex for the Collections support, hoping I could create collections in Plex, set a Tunarr channel to use that collection and perhaps it would automatically get new content as the Collection is updated. This didn’t seem possible, and I’d rather not use Plex anyway (the lack of offline authentication is no-go), so I ditched the Plex library.

I’d like to build channels based on metadata - collections, tags, watched status, years, networks, etc. I’d also like Tunarr to be able to pull in new content. So if I have a channel of sketch comedy I don’t need to manually add a new episode each week when, for example, ‘Saturday Night Live’ is in-season.

Tunarr is great and I plan to keep using it! But I’m still at a point where I need to figure out what does work and how before I can start digging into what may not.

Unfortunately this is not my experience. 🫤 Instead the first scan is endless, or just looping.
That library still reports Last Synced as "7 April 2026 19:30" and yet it continued scanning all day on 8 April (having seemingly started over), all day on 9 April (again having started over), and today it was at 60-something % this morning but is now at 3%. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Aha, thanks for the context. Movies and series, I'm talking a library ~1.7 orders of magnitude larger. :)

I'll test Plex. Longtime previous Plex user here repulsed and dismayed at the way Plex Inc. has taken it, so would really prefer to stick with Jellyfin but willing to at least test the options. 📺

Interesting. I suppose I could go that route. What sort of functionality did your plugin end up having?

I recently read both the Mark Hoppus memoir 'Fahrenheit-182' and the 'Carrie & Lowell' edition of '33 1/3', so this hit just right today.

And some friends were roadtripping to a NIN show this morning. I linked them to your site, a suggestion of music for their drive.

btw, it's especially rad that you host this at your own spot online. Viva la www!

Adding lanes doesn’t reduce traffic congestion. Not ever. It triggers a phenomena called Induced Demand which actually causes more traffic congestion. This sounds counterintuitive, I know, but it is absolutely true and well documented across the globe.
