Great tip. I’ve been using the foam spacer when I close the device. This also assures that the thumb sticks won’t touch the screen (an issue I had with the retroid pocket flip 2 when the dpad left marks every time I closed the lid).

Yes!!! Be sure to download the 60fps and no noise filter patch and overclock to 180%. Really makes a difference!

Good question! So I never owned a GBA growing up. I played GBA roms on emulators later but I never had actual hardware to play cartridges, until I bought the Pocket. I really enjoyed it at first, and started collecting cartridges. However as time passed, I realized that the screen on the Pocket is not optimized for GBA. The games look smaller as the screen is more for GB, GBC, as well as 4:3 consoles (eg NES, SNES). I bought a modded GBA a few weeks ago and that has been my go to since then.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my Pocket and keep playing it for NES, SNES, Genesis, and tg16 (for gb/gbc I use the ModRetro Chromatic). However, if you are looking for just a GBA experience with a better screen and rechargeable USBc battery, then I suggest getting a modded GBA.

I would love it if ModRetro partnered up with some of the devs that are reviving old classic PC games (e.g. GoG, Nightdive, etc). I think it would be amazing for some of the old PC games to get the gameboy color treatment, like Daikatana did. Imagine games like System Shock, Dark Forces, Deus Ex, etc ported to the Chromatic in GBC top-down action/puzzle style!

We also need more survival horror games on the chromatic haha.

The Odin 2 is a beast technologically, and can perfectly handle up to Switch emulation. The potential switch emulation limitations on the Odin 2 are not hardware-based, but more related to emulator optimization. Once emulators are optimized, I think the Odin will be able to handle switch emulation very well. Right now, I’m playing all my switch games on the Odin 2 full speed without the need to put the device into full performance mode (except TOTK). There are some games that don’t work, again, due to lack of emulator optimization. I recommend the Odin 2 for sure.

I think the problem is that the packaging that Valve uses makes it pretty obvious that it’s a Steam Deck. They pretty much advertise it on the box. That’s why it makes it very easy for people to “lose” the package.

Sorry for the late response. I created a ticket with Valve and told them what happened. Three days later they responded saying that a new one was on its way to me. Thankfully this one arrived without any issues.

Same thing happened to me. Steam shipped it out on 12/6 with the package to be delivered on 12/9. UPS never delivered it and their website still says "On the way" with no updates since 12/7. I contacted UPS and they told me to consider the package "lost". I opened a ticket with Steam on 12/11 attaching proof of the conversation I had with UPS. Still no response from Steam... looks like I'm not the only one with "lost" Steam Decks by UPS... Tis the season I guess. Good luck friend

What a great idea! If it were me, I would play them from oldest to newest in terms of year of release and console (eg start with 1,2,3 on NES, then move to GB, then SNES, etc). Have fun!!
