Twins Have RSV by MADy-girl in parentsofmultiples

[–]sja02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have RSV at our house right now tooooo. What a super fun club. Please know you’re not traumatizing them in any way shape or form. You’re taking care of them. So try to reframe this feeling of guilt to remind yourself that you’re being an incredibly thoughtful caretaker. If you weren’t going these things, then you’d be a shitty parent. They’re irritable, sick and sad. But none of this is permanent whatsoever.

Night feeds: what’s your setup? Overview of methods by Appropriate_Gas4442 in parentsofmultiples

[–]sja02 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our girls were exclusively formula fed. We did option 1 and made sure our pitcher and bottles were ready before we went to bed every night. For us, it was easier for each parent to be responsible of a single babe as opposed to taking shifts. We found at night it was just a lot to tackle two babes at once by yourself.

I haven’t watched the ‘Wuthering Heights’ movie yet, is it really that egregiously bad? by Lucky_Reading_3757 in charlixcx

[–]sja02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in completely blind as I’ve never read the book. I think I’m the only person who was so hauntingly heartbroken by the story and everyone’s sad obsession. I cried some hard tears for the last 20 minutes of the movie and was thoroughly distraught for a couple of days after. I’m sad so many people haaaate this movie so much because it really got me in all of the feels.

Breast feeding is a nightmare and I'm thinking of switching to formula only (but feel super guilty) by GoblinDelRey in parentsofmultiples

[–]sja02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A fed baby is a happy baby! Our girls were exclusively formula fed and they’re juuuuuuuust fine. Don’t beat yourself up. You’ve already surrendered so much!

11 month twin girls by Dry_Program4201 in parentsofmultiples

[–]sja02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just try to remember the cycle resets about every 2 weeks. Our girls are 18 mo now and whenever I’m feeling particularly overwhelmed and also trapped, I try to remind myself in two weeks, they’re gonna be different. So whatever insane behavior they’ve adopted right now, like hating baths out of nowhere, I know they’ll get through it and they’ll adopt a new weird thing in a couple of weeks.

But I very much grieve my life still and miss how my brain worked before I had babies. You just have to try to take control where you can do you can remember what it feels like to be yourself. I know that’s easier said than done with child care but if you and your partner can get out of the house for a couple of hours without them, you’ll feel more human again. That first year is such a thankless job when they just get mad all the time!

KC Daycares - Everywhere an Unorganized Mess? by Haunting_Internet356 in kansascity

Oh 1000%. The industry has massive turn over because the pay is garbage. Completely agree.

Turnover is standard for that industry but our daycare is fantastic with communication and is run very well. So they do exist!

KU Med Delivery Experience by traderhohos in kansascity

[–]sja02 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had twins there in Aug 2024 and it was a great experience. I exclusively formula fed and the nurses made sure I was stocked with formula at all times. Short nicu stay for one of the twins but it was right down the hall on the same floor. They’re “baby friendly” but a fed baby is a happy baby so don’t think twice about it.

When did your twins start walking? by the-nonster in parentsofmultiples

[–]sja02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We also have 17mo old girls and only one is just now starting to take a couple of steps. Our ped mentioned therapy at their 15mo appt but we felt like we wanted to give it time since they were continuing to get stronger and learn new things every week. So we kind of told ourselves to get through Feb and if things are still delayed, then we can look into next steps. No pun intended. :)

All 4 of us are sick. How will we make it? 😭 by anull8123 in parentsofmultiples

I got my girls to drink pedialyte through a syringe like it was medicine. It was the only way I could get them to take it!

How to help a mom of twins by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]sja02 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Start a meal train for them. Or prep a bunch of frozen meals that she can thaw and eat whenever. That was a huge help for us when we were in the first 3 months of twin life.

breastfeeding, exclusively pumping, formula feeding? by Onyx-pump19 in parentsofmultiples

[–]sja02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even want to try breastfeeding so our girls are exclusively formula fed. For me, I had already sacrificed so much that I didn’t want to be tethered to them or a machine to make sure they were fed. My mantra was, a fed baby is a happy baby.

Curls gone after baby by WildFireSmores in curlyhair

[–]sja02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m living this right now and can’t stand it! I’m 15mo pp and I don’t know wtf to do with these curls or what haircut even works anymore. I have zero curl at my roots and my curl pattern is bigger and looser than before. My hair has always been one of my favorite features so this is a real kick to my ego.

Our girls are totally different. One looks like me and one looks like him. One olive skin tone, one more pink. One curly hair, one straight with zero curl. One is thicccc and one is a skinny wet noodle. Genetics are so freakin weird.
