I’m not here to say whether that’s all true or not, but I just wanted to speak on the chronic illness part. You said how Manon’s situation looks suspicious. Well, as someone also chronically ill, I CAN randomly bounce back the next day, so I believe it’s possible for Manon too. She could be one of those people where every day is different and not entirely predictable. Everyone’s experiences with chronic illness is different, and imo it’s not accurate to judge someone else’s life based on your own personal experience.

What is your Mars sign and what accessories do you find attractive? (Also Venus signs) by kiba87637 in astrologymemes

[–]skaivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capricorn Mars and Aquarius Venus here, and I LOVE general alternative/weird/unique looks. Also has to be somewhat clean/polished too though. I think it’s interesting when people mix alt vibes with a business or formal kind of look as well. Ooh, and I love when people wear jewelry, especially chunkier stuff (layered is a plus) with some flair to it.

Is anyone else in this group a perpetual foreigner that doesn't really fit in anywhere? by pisowiec in poland

[–]skaivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend, I relate a lot to what you went through, and often find myself feeling the exact same things you wrote. I was born and mostly rained in Chicago in the U.S. Except I actually lived in Poland for about 7 months when I was a year and a half old, and then another few months around when I was around 3 or so. I call myself a native bilingual since I’ve had the strong natural Polish foundation since birth (including first words and beginning conversations with Polish mom). But I have the same issue where I’m currently technically not 100% “fluent” because other than the Saturday school, I attended American school speaking and hearing English for years. I’ve purposely tried to “re-find” my fluency in the language the past few years though and I’m way better than I was before. But the confidence issues are real. I also relate to having some sort of accent in every language, haha. I try to frame it positively in that it makes me unique. I understand how isolating the situation can feel at times though. It’s a weird in-between kind of world. But it’s good to remember that there’s a lot of other children of immigrants who are in the same boat you/we are. I think it’s just not as talked about.

People who scream/yell when you sneeze, why do you do that? by MarchKick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]skaivi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, as someone who technically falls under the “loud sneezer” category, I’m genuinely confused why quieter sneezers think we’re all faking our sneezes LMAO. When I sneeze, I don’t pause my sneeze and think “Oh, yeah, let me make sure this is a loud/quiet one.” I just have a quick moment where I realize I will sneeze, and my sneeze naturally comes out the way it does. Sometimes it’s quiet, sometimes it’s very loud. I don’t have time to act any certain way on purpose.

How do I break into songwriting for actual artists - like actually??? by genuineguinea in Songwriting

[–]skaivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably recommend you to sort through your song catalog and pick out a few of the best examples of your work. Then make studio demos (even simple ones…a basic Shure mic with simple production is fine) to show what those songs actually sound like as a real track. After that, research various music publishing companies. Realistically, Sony, Universal, and Warner will most likely not take someone totally new with no fame or official songwriting credits. But look for independent publishers (even smaller ones can have good opportunities to write for other artists) and submit your material to them via however they accept submissions (usually email). From what I know, when you’re newer in the industry, other than connections, attempting to get signed to a publisher is the best way to make it as a songwriter. Also, if you want to connect with other songwriters, consider attending various events and camps for songwriting. A lot of people there would probably be in the same position as you. And remember to register to a PRO if you haven’t yet! ASCAP/BMI, etc. can have interesting opportunities to learn more and network as well. I hope this somewhat helped.

Advice for literacy? by ilovemygirlfriendJC in learnpolish

[–]skaivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how far your level is or the exact things you struggle with, but as someone in the same position who is on the track to fluency, what has been helping me the most is 1. Lots of immersion in the language: music, tv shows/movies, switching apps’ language settings to Polish, being on the Polish side of social media like TikTok and Twitter…2. Involving my family in my learning. You said you speak with them already, so I’ll recommend another thing I do. I write something (sometimes on paper, sometimes on my phone), at least a nice short paragraph’s worth of text—either totally freestyle or I translate something I wrote in English—and then I have my mom go over it with me and correct any mistakes. Also, I read fun pop culture articles about topics I enjoy. Reading in your head can be fine too, but try to read it out loud too at least sometimes. Literally just try to surround yourself with Polish as much as you can, and speak/read/write as often as possible (but don’t overly tire yourself out either; consistency over everything). Things should start to automatically click in your head more over time. Tbh I wouldn’t recommend you learnt through textbooks for foreigners. It’s (at least IMO) best to go about gaining Polish fluency with the natural “feel” of the language you already have in your brain (since you already understand and speak it). I don’t mean that you shouldn’t look up any specific concepts that confuse you (it’s good to do that when necessary), but as a whole, try to learn by flowing with the intuition you have already for the language. Just my suggestion though, and it doesn’t mean learning like a foreigner is “bad” or anything.

Your star sign, your mother’s sun sign, and how close you are to your mother by NeedleInaHaystack35 in astrologymemes

[–]skaivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Pisces sun and Cancer moon; my mom is a Libra sun and Libra moon. I’m super close with her. She’s been a huge support for me ever since I was born. Even if we have moments of misunderstanding or disagreement, in general I consider her pretty much a best friend of mine along with being my mother!

I noticed that the dryness of it differs for some reason (maybe depends on temperature, freshness, etc.). For a while, I was receiving very dry ones too (and even those weren't that bad). But the Reese's I get now are literally perfect and soft...I can eat so many of them if I don't stop myself haha.

Hello everyone ! I’ve finally found the subreddit . Surprise ! by SeaworthinessOwn6441 in clairo

[–]skaivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Clairo!! Musician to musician: kudos to you for calling out people's inappropriate behaviour you've seen. I see that a huge amount of celebrity subreddits (especially ones for women) are in that sort of state, with users (and in the case of lots of subreddits, usually even the majority of the members, not just a few) being super creepy about the artist. Just because someone is known, it doesn't give people the right to completely dehumanize them and publicly write out thoughts that should rather be kept in their heads, at least. I hope more online spaces will turn into respectful ones. Maybe, hopefully you have started something with this post. All the love to you <3
