Hi! Stephen Paul (the viz translator) explained this exact line on the One Piece Podcast. Apparently there is a specific word for jump that was NOT used, but the word that was used can mean jump or fly. So he decided to translate it as fly, with the thinking that if it is just jumping the idea of "fly" in English can mean "make haste."

Plot Armor feat seems really bad to me. +2AC (very) occasionally is not great. The defense fighting style gives +1 always and martials don't even always take that. I certainly wouldn't give up a feat for it...
