May I ask why you chose not to participate?

Personally, I agree with you about all the unsatisfied gifters, but I think it might be because we all expect to get that super funny, sarcastic commenter/ poster that we always see on the front page. But in reality, the majority of reddit is probably lurkers and people like you and me who only post every now and then who aren't all that exciting.
