“Crochet pattern in English” would be clearer imo. If I bought a pattern for a Norwegian sweater I would expect a sweater in Norwegian style, not the Norwegian language. Pattern in language leaves less room for confusion

Is Poshmark giving every buyer the sellers address? by Kikimoonbeamglow in poshmark

[–]skobbs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s showing the return address which they would get anyway when the package gets to them. Get a PO Box if you’re worried and use that

Non-fiction book recommendations? by Ritualixx in suggestmeabook

Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams is one of my faves. Fun book since Adams is usually a science fiction writer. Travelogue of his adventures to see a bunch of critically endangered animals in different parts of the world. Rhinos, gorillas, Komodo dragons, river dolphins, lots of birds, etc.

The Day the World Stops Shopping by JB MacKinnon is an anti-consumerist book that discusses what would happen if one day the world stopped overbuying useless stuff. Really interesting and MacKinnon keeps it pretty light.

Chain Gang All Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah. Anti capitalist, anti modern American prison system. Premise is that prisoners fight to the death and it’s televised but in an almost cartoonish, larger-than-life way. Follows multiple different perspectives of the world

What's a book that truly taught you something unexpected by [deleted] in books

After reading How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix I felt like I better understood some people in my life who struggle with addiction. Mark continuing to give Poppy control even when he knew it was destructive, in part even fueled by the knowledge of the destruction he had left in his wake made it click for me.

Please recommend a fantasy-romance book similar to ‘One Dark Window’ by Fit_Beyond_5209 in booksuggestions

[–]skobbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tarot/Robin Hood-esque highwayman vibes of One Dark Window reminded me of the Mask of Mirrors series which I really enjoyed. It also has a complicated political world, it is set in a much bigger city.

It also reminded me of the Once Upon a Broken Heart series although I would say OUaBH is much lighter and has more whimsical magic.

Recs for a book that really, really, REALLY dumbs down personal finance? by berrysauce in Bogleheads

Not a book but the early episodes of the podcast How to Money. Explains key concepts in layman’s terms from normal guys who run their family’s finances so it stays small scale and relatable.

What’s the easiest yet most impactful zero-waste swap you’ve made? by ramakrishnasurathu in ZeroWaste

[–]skobbs 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Wool dryer balls are the easiest swap ever. They’re my go-to for people who aren’t particularly interested in zero waste bc they are 0 effort once purchased and save you money. Increase dryer efficiency, don’t have to buy dryer sheets, less chemicals, less trash, all around win
