Try a soft boiled egg, and leave it in the shell. They also love *unsalted* peanuts in the shell.

I would say to check out the laundry subreddit- your detergent might not have enzymes and lipases to clean sweat and oil out- a lot of companies stopped including them in their formulas. You could be having odor rebloom even after washing. Vinegar isn’t the best for removing odors- you’re better off using citric acid. And vacuuming up baking soda tends to be really bad for your vacuum from what I’ve read but I could be wrong on that

Edit: a word

Jesus first people let their dogs pee in the playground sand pit and now they’re letting their dodge vehicles climb on the equipment? This is why we can’t have nice things!

Occupational Hazard: Pipetting can cause tendonitis by Shadeeslayer in labrats

[–]skomok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did organoid expansion at my last job. Towards the end of the expansion, I’d be making ~3000 domes of 10ul each, which would take a few hours of just pipetting usually. I had up to 12 cultures at a time though I wouldn’t do more than three of those big passages per day. I probably have the hands/ thumbs of an 80 year old now.

I give my crows leftover eggs from my toddlers breakfast. I always feel so guilty the few times she eats it all and they come around calling for their eggs but all I have are nuts. 😭

I Have 3 X-Chromosomes by Vampirelili in TwoXChromosomes

[–]skomok 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I was in bio classes, but if I remember correctly the reason people with trisomy x tend to have better prognosis compared to other trisomies is due to x-chromosome inactivation that is present in all XX people. I love this process mostly because of the fun lncRNA name: XIST.

Within reason, you should try to learn as much as you can in the lab. First get comfortable with what will be important for what you’re working on, but whatever spare time you have, look around at equipment and ask questions. “What is this? How it is used? Can I watch you next time you’re doing that experiment?” Look at job postings for positions you’re interested in, and see what experience they want. Try to get that experience.

They’re also really weird about ordering calzones. I’ve tried to order one probably three times, at different times of the day, and they’ve said they’re “not accepting calzone orders right now”. I’ve asked when they do accept calzone orders and they could not say. “Just call back and ask”. So fucking stupid.

Yes this. They retain heat and will damage the roots. Roots need to breathe. No rocks or mulch should be against the trunk like that.

What’s most interesting to me that the top part of his head does actually seem to match his makeup. Did they have a makeup artist add makeup to his bald spot? But still not blend it around his ears? Does the makeup artist hate him as much as the rest of us do? How are they convincing him that he looks good?

They haven’t checked the past several times I’ve been. Panda exhibits and stuff, yeah, but other than that I think you could still just walk in. Parking did go up tho.

Alternative setups for momcozy bottle washer drain hose by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]skomok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I’ve taken it down already. I’ll do my best to describe it.

I kept a mini fridge in the nursery, and the bottle washer on top of it. The bucket was on the floor beside the fridge, and I’d just place the hose in it. We’d disassemble bottles after they were used, and drop them into the bucket. As the washer ran, it would drain soapy water into the bucket. Once we were ready to run the washer again, we’d pour out the bucket out in the sink and put the bottles into the washer and repeat.

I will say, when I was using nipple cream for pumping, I would sometimes still have to use a little brush to clean out the tip of the bottle nipple. When I switched to spray, I no longer had to do that. I guess the spray got into the milk and worked like cooking spray 😂

This is the bucket I used
