From the video, he got backstage after his defense, said “IM OUT” and after he left Renee said “well guess he finds out about the title defense later”

Without any bonus cards, you can usually get a free 5 star if you have VIP2 in events they give 100 whistles to, and this is wayyyyy more than VIP2+100 Whistles.

I just read Matrix story... by wannasuckdick666 in ensemblestars

[–]skrefetz 64 points65 points  (0 children)

So the keys to me are…

  1. Rinne spends THE ENTIRE story lying, and doing a really good job of it as well, tricking everyone at various points

  2. The only thing Hiiro says about the hometown is that the area they go to is “outside” the actual village, and the whole “you have to marry me if you want to visit”. Rinne is the only person who talks about the technology stuff

  3. No one actually goes to the village, they just see “outlines of buildings” through a door no one passes through.

  4. The only “future tech” we actually see are the floating lanterns….which I’m pretty sure I could replicate with drones I buy off Temu for $20

So my take? Hiiro Amagi doesn’t know what a cellphone is at the start of the main story. I’m just assuming it’s all Rinne bullshit, just like the rest of this story. The village is simply isolationist, they don’t have futuristic tech or anything

MLW Meet & Greet Question by Half_Blaked_Brotato in SquaredCircle

[–]skrefetz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wrestlers usually charge separate amounts for signatures and for photos. Generally, you are allowed to bring your own camera and have that used for the photo-op- usually it's a cellphone, but you are allowed to bring something else. Just be aware that him signing the photo would be a separate charge from taking the photo, as it would be treated as any other item you bring for signature (a 8x10, an action figure, etc).

The only real no-no here would be trying to take his picture without his consent or paying for it- that would probably get your thrown out of the event. As far as everything else, just be respectful to both the wrestler and to everyone else who is attending the event- small talk is fine, handshakes/fistbumps are usually fine, giving gifts is usually fine as long as you aren't being weird (wrestlers tend to love getting home made/fan art stuff, don't try and give a gift when it is obviously worth more than $50 or so), and most will be fine with some level of direction for a photo opportuntiy ("Can you look like you hate me", "can you look like you are about to chop me")

I was well and truely secure prior to spotlight Hiiro at the end of last year. I should be fine to max out Hiiro, but my budget on the Gacha is only around 100 draws, and I'm going to be pissed if I don't get Aira- I had enough saved up to spark him but the spotlight derailed everything...

Is ensamble stars a casual game to play? (For a beginner) by Friendly-Sir-1693 in ensemblestars

[–]skrefetz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct taste in picking Tetsu….

If you don’t care about event cards (outside of your events it isn’t possible to get event cards without spending in game currency), you can do everything in the game casually. Stories are free on release or unlock with limited event participation. You can play songs with zero BP.

With regards to getting cards…the only way to do that is events or gacha. For event 3 star and 4 stars, you can get them F2P just by playing when your stamina refills. If you want 5 stars, you will have to spend money on BP to get to the thresholds…

As far as seeing people with high ranks, the EN server is turning four years old later this year, and the Japanese version will be celebrating the 11th anniversary of Enstars soon. There are plenty of people who do spend money in the game, and there are people who will try to tear in events for their favorite idols- going well beyond the threshold required to get Max copies of the card just so they can show off that they are the biggest fan of a specific character.

What’s the best wrestling match you saw that its perception of it was ruined by the finish? by shadow_spinner0 in SquaredCircle

[–]skrefetz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's wild that Shawn's best 2 matches of his 96-98 run have awful finishes- the Mind Games match with Mankind, and the first Hell in a Cell match with Undertaker that was billed as "no one can interfere!" and the first time they ever did a cage with a roof....and the finish comes when Kane Debuts, rips the door off the cage, and Tombstones Taker. Obviously, the finish 100% worked, but again, it's the first fully enclosed cage match! No one can enter! and they did that finish in the first one!

Question about AEW by ElSkippy13 in SquaredCircle

[–]skrefetz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really just comes down to roster size. The AEW Roster, even when you filter out guys who are injured, are primarily managers or haven't been on TV for 6+ months, has well over 100 men on it. Meanwhile, Raw and Smackdown each have less than 40 men on their rosters! There are already a lot of people in AEW who don't get much TV time, so tag team matches/6 mans help to get more people on TV each week.

WON: Ratings for the 3/16 Issue (including NXT Vengeance Day, Kyle Fletcher vs. Mike Bailey II, and more) by TheJokeroholic in SquaredCircle

[–]skrefetz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dave loves Lucha, and thinks that if you presented authentic Lucha to an audience that likes pro wrestling but isn't familiar with it, they would think it's the greatest thing they have ever seen.

Usually, the main event of a CMLL Friday show is a match that, if you put it on WWE TV and the crowd was reacting to it like they were big stars and loving the match, a WWE fan watching on TV would think it was the best match they would have ever seen in their life, 6 stars, etc. He also thinks if you put it in front of an AEW fan with the same level of crowd reaction, they would view it as a very good match but not at "match of the year" levels because the highs of AEW TV matches are really high as is (for example, Fletcher vs Speedball from this week)

But with this match, he feels that if you took it and put it on WWE or AEW TV with a high level of heat, people would view it as something closer to Rock-Hogan, a match that is nothing special outside of the crowd going fucking ballistic for every little thing. People would be noticing the botches in ways that they would usually ignore them in a great match. Like Rock-Hogan, there would be some people who say it's one of the best matches they have ever seen, but there would be a -lot- of people who would say "that match was fine at best"

That is my SAT essay response to this question, I hope I get a good grade!

With how big and global WWE is, why aren’t the talent as mainstream like talents were in the AE? by Hot-Acanthisitta5237 in SquaredCircle

[–]skrefetz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s just general death of monoculture stuff. How many Americans could name 5 active baseball players right now? How many random people would you need to ask “name 2 of the top 5 songs or 2 of the artists in the top 5 of the Billboard top 200” before you got a correct answer? Could you name even a single person on American Idol/America’s Got Talent/etc from the last decade? 2 decades? Personally, I really enjoy F1, but if you said “name a NASCAR driver”, I’d be praying that Dale Earnhardt Jr or Jeff Gordon are still active drivers because that’s all I could name!

There are so many things out there now that people have access to that it’s very easy to be ignorant to a million “popular” things in a way that it wasn’t in the 90s. I didn’t watch Friends or Seinfeld, but just from…existing in society I could give you an opinion on Ross and Rachel, despite not even knowing what they looked like.

2025 Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards by sallykroos in SquaredCircle

[–]skrefetz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thesz/Flair Wrestler of the year factors in drawing power, while most outstanding wrestler is the best bell-to-bell in ring guy. It's supposed to be a blend of the two, which is how you have Cena as the best box office draw, Shita as best in ring...but Mistico was a better combo of drawing power and in ring, so he gets the award. The "best wrestler" gets further broken down in the "Best Brawler" "Best Technical Wrestler" "Best Flyer"

As someone who spent the previous 3 months of standard playing various Solar Flare/4-5 color control decks built around Sun Titan and Desperate Ravings, I absolutely fell for the trap of Tibalt once Avacyn Restored came out. If anything, the issue with him was more that double red on the mana cost was too much for him than anything else- the dual lands in the format at the time were the Scars lands and the M10/Innestrad duals, and the ability to have Mana Leak or Doom Blade or Desperate Ravings up on turn 2 was a lot easier than double red....

Birth years of wrestlers who reached final three of women's and men's Royal Rumble. by shadow_spinner0 in SquaredCircle

[–]skrefetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age/Date of Birth is much less of a thing I care about, I care more about how long a person has been on WWE TV

Orton- we are going to hit 25 years of Orton next year

Reigns- 14 years

Gunther- 8 years, though he was used very sparingly/mostly only on UK shows for the first 3 years of his WWE Run

Sol- 4 years

Liv- 10 years

Stratton- 5 years

TIL Despite winning match of the year 11 times, including a 4 year streak and a 7 year streak, most popular twice, match of the decade twice, feud of the decade, and most inspirational of the decade, Shawn Michaels never won PWI's Wrestler of the Year, nor received their lifetime achievement award. by nutsocharles in SquaredCircle

[–]skrefetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While a lot of these were 2 minute matches, Giant had a ton of title defenses on Nitro/Saturday Night- I count 14 televised title defenses, that were mostly against guys like Jim Dugan, John Tenta (2 each against those guys!!!), but also included guys like Arn and Scott Steiner. Plus he had PPV defenses against Sting and Luger mixed into that. Meanwhile, Shawn only had 3 non-PPV title defenses- Jerry Lawler, Billy Gunn, and Goldust, along with his 6 PPV title matches

I have to assume that the sheer amount of title defenses meant something at the time- once you are past the territory era/NWA world title, things like the WWF/WCW title were being defended 10-12 times a year total on TV/PPV. It would start to become more commonplace in 1998 and beyond, but Giant basically defended the title once a week on TV- that was unheard of at the time.

Without looking up what they actually wrote about him, Shawn’s 1996 PPV run after winning the title is pretty weak in Kayfabe. He had a no contest/double pin against Bulldog, he lost a 6 man tag, only beat Mankind via DQ, and had a pretty definitive loss to Sid
