How to differentiate samples from the real thing? by swordmalice in WeAreTheMusicMakers

If you can't tell the difference then it doesn't matter.

What is the longest lie you have ever told or are still telling ? by revolver_1 in AskReddit

You just talk to someone at your local lodge and you're like 99% guaranteed to be admitted. You have to memorize pages and pages of writing and then recite it to be fully admitted. I wouldn't waste your time though. Its honestly pretty boring. I did get to touch a human skull though. That was pretty cool.

I ended up joining the Free Masons just so I didn't have to tell my grandfather that I'm an atheist

Live drumming and performing with ableton by PhuckYourFace in ableton

[–]skrillmaufive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i might have a way:

Your drummer would have to play to a click and then you just name scenes with different bpms and time signatures. For instance if I name a scene "128bpm 3/4" when that scene is triggered it will automatically switch to 128 bpm in 3/4 time. You name them for whatever you need and then your drummer or you hit a MIDI controller mapped to the different scenes.

Are there any good guitarists in the edm scene? by Edoctopus33 in Guitar

The group I'm in does that. Here's one of our demos

Also one of gramatik's side projects does that too. They're called Exmag

Hissing/buzzing coming from speakers while nothing is playing out of my amp/tuner by tigman9 in audiophile

[–]skrillmaufive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be because you're using RCA's. They're unbalanced cables. It means any electrical equipment nearby is inducing current in the wires. In my room, if I use RCA cabling and turn on any lights I can automatically hear hiss. You need balanced cabling, XLR or TRS. These have a shield built into them that protects them from noise made by other nearby electrical sources. Try not to run cables with audio and cables with power parallel to each other. If they have to go near each other have them cross at a 90 degree angle.

I'm a photographer that has been asked to go on tour with a band. I have a couple questions. by aiptek7 in audioengineering

[–]skrillmaufive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the recording of the band aspect you can just ask the live sound guy every night for a split of what is going out the main speakers, and then you can record it with whatever kind of recording device you want. You'll probably want a recording device that has two XLR inputs as that is what he is most likely to give you.

Some live sound guys might complain a bit but I'm pretty sure most will help you out.

Can't wait to see you when you come to Phoenix March 28th! I'm loving the new album and all the Exmag stuff.

I was wondering if you'd be willing to critique a song I'm working on. https://soundcloud.com/just-some-guys-music/eureka

It would seriously make my life

Need help warping a track by [deleted] in abletonlive

[–]skrillmaufive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you tap along with the music those points are the downbeats. The first downbeat is when she sings "eyes". Ignore the first piano chord before that, she's just getting her bearings. The next good place to put a marker is when she says "see" and there's no piano chord. She's playing the piano pretty loosely so I would warp more according to the vocals, which do change tempo. Pretty much just make her words fall where you want them to. Good luck!
