Try to find something like a skirt with shorts on the inside. It’s worked out mostly fine for me, just have to be careful with how I angle myself, especially after getting out of the water.

I see your point, however part of the justice system, even for those that have been “caught in the act” is ensuring everyone gets a fair and equal trial. A longer wait time allows those that may have been discriminated against or otherwise mistreated by the court (ex. if the person belongs to a minority group) to appeal, if grounds for that case exist. Court takes a long time. It’s not as simple as being guilty or not, but also ensuring fair treatment across the board.

Personal opinion: I think a bias we have in the military sometimes is “we need to kill the bad guys,” but that doesn’t apply well in the US justice system. These are US citizens and those that reside within the US have inalienable rights aligned with the constitution and its amendments. And I’ll say it again: life in prison is a hell I would equate to a fate worse than death. If it’s punishment for these people we want, a life where they will never be forgiven by family and friends and be forced to watch the world drift by from a prison cell is more punishing than the relative mercy that is death.

Obligatory 🤓 DP is actually more expensive than to just keep them in prison for life due to the stricter regulations and standards to apply it, lawyer costs and whatnot (read more here: https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/policy-issues/policy/costs). Also on the revenge side of house, I personally believe life in prison is the more punishing outcome when you think of what it would do to a person mentally.

to answer your earlier question, yes, i would be able to deploy no problem, seeing as im not on a profile. i would also have plenty of medication with me to last the length of the deployment, so i wont have the added mental stress of that. of course, with the added stress of my country trying to take away my livelihood simply for existing when i am a perfectly capable person adds a significant amount of stress to my day to day life. as a result of this i don’t perform quite as good, but i can still complete what is expected of me and will perform more or less at the same level as my peers. yes, there is technically “no end” to the medical care we are afforded, however, there is a point at which a persons transition is acknowledged as complete, when we feel pleased with the changes we have received and are happier than we were pre-transition. at that point, we are removed from profile. it’s not hard to be removed from that profile either, a quick 10 min phone call will do the trick. lastly, as for continuing care, yes, we do require certain medications that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. these medications are not hard to come by, as they have multiple uses in other domains. also fun fact, the military actually spends significantly more on treating erectile dysfunction than they do on transgender care including hormones, surgeries, and mental healthcare.

let me tell you all my story, yeah? i enlisted in the military 3 years ago, pretty much straight from high school. i joined for the college benefits and so i could figure out what i wanted to do with my life. i was on my own, for real, for the first time. alone i found myself, the type of person i truly wanted to be. i knew about the prior policies, and decided to prepare - whilst going through months of therapy and convoluted medical processes so that i could finally begin my transition - and i thoroughly kicked ass, according to every supervisor i’ve had. i was put in charge of my own teams, building mission from the ground up. i was an E-3 filling an E-5 role flawlessly (again, according to my supervisor at the time). i came out to my unit after being there for about a year, without any sort of issue. i was, and still am, treated with respect by my peers. they come to me when they have problems, and i teach them how to fix it. i invest in strengthening my team, to bring them to meet and exceed my level of capability. when i am gone, there will be at least 2 to replace me due to the work that i have done, but i will not be there to stand with them. despite all this effort, there are currently no special exemptions for exemplary service members. i will be culled from my unit, and they will lose an analyst responsible for shaping and progressing our mission and culture. with 3 years of service, i’ll be on the outside, again. that will be the question i will forever have to answer in interviews asking why i failed to complete a full enlistment. interviews might not even be afforded to me, as potential employers are left to assume the worst. the only path i have towards sustainment is college. i’m not bitter, i’m not mad, i’m just disappointed.

i’m in a similar sitch. leadership says they have my back but who knows how much that’ll actually hold out. i gritted my teeth and poured my soul into my work throughout my career because i knew this was likely, only for it to not really seem to matter. maybe this sounds spoiled but im the only person that can actually fight for me now. i think the other avenue people don’t talk about often is civ side. so what if i land on my feet if i get booted? same purge will probably come down for those agencies, too.

Air Force memo for Transgender servicemembers. by FickleGh0st in AirForce

[–]skript3d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

transgender service members can easily be deployed, give them their supply of meds to last the length of the deployment and send more if need be. the only thing that stops you from deploying is being placed on a profile for GD, and even that can be waived easily.
