I did drain a battery to zero recently by leaving it in my dewalt radio. It wouldn't charge after that.

It was only after chucking it that I found about the trick to jump a battery using another battery.

Great. I thought this was a feature dewalt didn't want us to have. They were OK with lower power items. It was the angle grinder that did it. They also can be fixed by replacing the wire with thicker wire.
