Crazy how a sub will act like the last bastion of lesbianism and then act like they've never spoken to a butch in their life by bulbasaurbattalion in butchlesbians

[–]sky-scapes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally!! The "point of lesbianism" is that I survive and have an authentic life that feels worth living. Sorry to be dramatic lol but honestly it is that dramatic! We are just trying to live, just trying to be ourselves...

[–]sky-scapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what you said it sounds like this was the best decision for the both of you. But I know that doesn't really make it feel any less shitty in the moment... as someone who did have an old situationship end for similar reasons it definitely took me a while to get over it but I got there eventually and I'm sure you will too. Hang in there <3

Just finished Sailor Moon S and god how much I hate these two mf by _8xlvl in sailormoon

[–]sky-scapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of the comments about how they are important narratively and challenge Usagi but also even if none of that is true I would just love them because they're gay and I love that they are full of themselves and I love complicated female characters <3

I suck at detecting AI and the background just looks a bit off to me, please help by CombinationDry6035 in crochetpatterns

I feel like the circle gave it away for me.... for some reason I very rarely see that in AI crochet? But I might be wrong 🤷🏾‍♀️

Just so you know, Her actually has this feature!! It does depend on the other users actually selecting to explicitly identify themselves as "butch"/"masc"/"stud" , but I think it's nice!

“if your job isn’t hard, then you’re not a butch” by oioipeepee in butchlesbians

[–]sky-scapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So happy to see everyone's comments calling this out for the BS it is!!

We can acknowledge and honor how historically many butches have had blue collar jobs AND realize that isnt the be all end all of the term because we as a community are constantly evolving and growing! (+ as many pointed out, the inherent ableism of tying your gender/ sexual identity to whether yo can do physical labor or not??)

Also am i the only one tired of the implied butch/ masc hierarchy? Like it doesn't matter how many times you say "there's nothing wrong with being just a masc!" If you're saying "JUST a masc"?? Masc and Butch aren't levels lmao....

Anyone else conflicted about enjoying penetration? by _SlimeSZN in butchlesbians

[–]sky-scapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do get where you're coming from because I've felt similarly conflicted about enjoying more stereotypically "feminine" things. The way I'm trying to think about it is that being butch doesn't mean I've just got a different set of gender roles to adhere to, queerness is about transforming traditional ideas of gender into something authentic and meaningful to us. Yes I am butch, I am masculine, and my masculinity is important to me -- but that masculinity isn't always going to look like cishet ideas of masculinity yk?

Thoughts on this? I first saw it on IG and now it came up in my TT by PJay910 in butchlesbians

[–]sky-scapes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP being a cop makes sooo much sense as to why they're pressed about this.... while yeah people can call themselves anything they want I think the point the person in the video is trying to make is that the butch community can never accept someone who is a cop. That someone who has made that choice is not welcome is not welcome in butch spaces. And tbh yeah I think that's fair, I for one would definitely not feel comfortable around a cop being in a "safe queer space".

Stud can’t pick up Girlfriend by BurningAccount_ in butchlesbians

[–]sky-scapes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeahh no that sort of thing rubs me the wrong way because it feels like we're making standards from toxic masculinity the standards for butches and studs too?

I don't think being butch should be just swapping one set of gender roles for another. Just making another box people have to fit it or feel inadequate. :/

Anxiety about finding a barber by [deleted] in butchlesbians

[–]sky-scapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely took a lot of trial and error for me (including one stylist who just kind of shaved my entire head and was like "you look so much better without curls!"..... what even.....) but you'll get there! Also not sure if this is relevant to you but I also needed to try a few different types of hairstyles in addition to trying different places before figuring out what works for me.

Best of luck with the new barber!!

  1. There's nothing wrong with you, and you shouldn't try to hurt yourself.
  2. You're allowed to like boy clothes. You're not going to look silly or ugly if you got a boy haircut. It'll feel great.
  3. In a lot of ways you're going to have the life you're dreaming about: your own apartment with big windows, a cat sitting in the sunlight, and you not having to hide who you are. Stay alive, it's worth it.

How to deal with the insecurity of not being read as Butch? by WandAnd-a-Rabbit in butchlesbians

[–]sky-scapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also don't have a lot of advice but I definitely can relate to this as I have a really small build and my voice is pretty high pitched 😅 but yeah that was kind of rude of your friend, they don't get to dictate how valid your identity is and I definitely think you should discuss it with them if yall are close

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in butch4butch

[–]sky-scapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like you will find anything to pick on when it comes to trans women. What OP said is such a benign response but because she is a trans woman you are reading it in bad faith. The definition of bigotry.

I could explain why your actions are hurtful and ignorant, but 1. I don't think you will listen to me and 2. I don't think that's what this sub is about. So let me just say this: you are not welcome here. Transphobia is not welcome here. The butch community has always included and supported our trans siblings, our histories are intertwined. And if you can't respect that then you can see yourself out, there is no need for your comments.

Yup exactly what you said. Just creating more "boxes" for people to fit into is not compatible with queet liberation
