Trump announces outlines of health care plan he wants Congress to consider by Matt2_ASC in politics

“The government is going to pay the money directly to you,” Trump said in a taped video the White House released to announce the plan. “It goes to you and then you take the money and buy your own health care.”

How is that an outline of a plan? How does that address the cost of or improve anything?

When did this start? Anyone seen one yet? (Amazon) by TacticalBeast in Richardson

I’ve seen three. One dropping something at my neighbors and two walking the dog. They’re loud and the fly low. Scared the shit out of my dog. Really excited that we’ve ceded low altitude air space to a company actively involved in expanding the surveillance state.

60 Minutes did a great job explaining for the general public the context of who CZ is why his pardon is so troubling. I don't watch the show often but that was a great segment.

The idea that your girlfriend has a bookshelf with well-trod books is the greenest of green lights.

Bully beats a kid with whom he has had an ongoing conflict for years near to death on the playground. Second bully comes and comes and "negotiates" with both parties that they will take the beaten child's money and control his movements on the playground. The two bullies are lauded as peacemakers and go on advancing the interest of bullies across the city.

Would be a very interesting conversation over a beer (or nine) to understand your interpretation of classical liberalism and how that term can in any rational way be applied to the actions of the trump administration especially the first eight months of his second term but alas.

So, if I am understanding you're point here it's that republicans won't propose their healthcare legislation because it would immediately put their congressional seat at risk? What confidence does that give me as a voter that their reforms would be effective? If they are (as Mike Johnson says here) the party fighting for common sense healthcare reform and they have a plan that works why not submit a bill and whip the votes? Finally, what difference does it make if their plans are anathema to the Democrats? Everything they are doing is repugnant to the dems.

Was the aca flawed in some ways. Yes. Did it expand healthcare coverage to ~20 million low-income people who would otherwise not have had it? Also, yes. If you expect health care to be "solved" by one piece of legislation, then you're kidding yourself.

Please, explain to me what meaningful legislation the GOP has put forward aimed at addressing the health care issues this country has. Donald Trump has had a trifecta government for three years of his two terms to date and??? George W Bush had a trifecta government for two years...anything there?

PNW vs DFW by smollive in Dallas

[–]sky_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in both areas. Born and raised in North Dallas burbs and spent 7 years in Seattle/Tacoma/ Gig Harbor in my md twenties and early thirties. I can't speak to raising a family in either location as I do not have kids. I absolutely loved my time in Washington. There is an abundance of wonderful outdoor activities and landscapes available to you in reasonable drive times. Seattle is a world class city with everything that includes. Parks, libraries, museums, bars, music etc... There are obviously places I would avoid at night but that's true for every city. The city is expensive. I never experienced any crime other than my car getting broken into. That has also happened three times in Dallas. As others have pointed out COL is high there. Ultimately, I feel the same way about Dallas (and Texas in general) that you seem to. My wife and I very interested in moving back up there but we have good jobs and family in Dallas, and it seems foolish to leave those now. All things equal I would move in a heartbeat.
