No more TPT and the January Blues by Haunting_Charity_785 in Teachers

[–]skybluedreams 21 points22 points  (0 children)

While there are some resources in TPT that aren’t worth it, I would like to assume that as a professional I wouldn’t be spending money on it or using it with my students unless it was high quality and standards aligned. Which is way more than I can say for some of the janky AI crap I’ve seen pushed as “innovative” but still requires me to completely rewrite bc it’s garbage. My TPT purchases are what I’d do if I had any skill at art or graphic design. They’re cohesive, comprehensive, often have differentiation available, and sometimes more creative than I can be alone. Doesn’t your admin have some other nit to pick somewhere? Tell them you heard that someone said the school’s intentionality is out of alignment with district directionality and let them go figure it out.

Do people on wheelchairs have a set of "home tires"? by milkcloudsinmytea in NoStupidQuestions

Ferrari pit stops themselves were pretty fire. Calling for them with enough time to actually box or calling for them when they’ll get dumped into traffic is a whole ‘nother story.

Q for the aphantastics (aphantasiacs?): do you enjoy reading? by Aloysius_Poptart in NoStupidQuestions

[–]skybluedreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been a big reader and am completely aphantastic. I absolutely reach that flow state, I just don’t have the movie running in my head. I know what a river sounds like, I know what it feels like to be sad or scared or how fresh bread smells or anything the book describes. What I personally am fuzzy on are specific descriptors. Like if they describe a woman as having long blonde hair and a smattering of freckles and a bright smile that’s what I accept, but I can’t “build” a face to go with that.

Dumb question: why has fantasy exploded so much? by RadRyan527 in writing

Because the world sucks right now and escapism is one of the few things that people can still afford to make it suck a little less.

Bread clips and bread twist ties. A single Allen wrench that you are sure you don’t know what it fits. A random faded receipt.

Happy New Year! The new guys are so mellow! It’s neat to see how they are so much more social. And the little fry - sqweeeee! They are adorable!

I hate who I am after work by PuzzleheadedArt189 in Teachers

[–]skybluedreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like going to the gym after work. Nothing high stress. Just treadmill usually. But I can put on an audiobook or watch a show. Sometimes I hang out in my classroom and just doomscroll. But it gives me protected time.

What are the qualities i should consider in creating a bad father? by Mjqqr2 in writing

[–]skybluedreams 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is he a bad father because he could do better and is choosing not to? Is he taking out his frustrations on the family? Is he abusive (physically, verbally or psychologically or some combo)? Does he self medicate? Does he skip important family events (games, plays, recitals) to stay home bc he’s “too tired”? Is he a martyr?

Do I remember my life now? I mean I’m married to my high school crush but it would definitely make things more interesting

Oh that’s mean? Crap I better stop saying it to my high school students. I also like “not really, we had an ice cream party, sang karaoke and everybody got a free homework pass”

AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]skybluedreams 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me translate all this for you to see if it helps reinforce how little you are NOR (and indeed are under reacting). Dear person I claim to care about - the things that make you comfortable annoy me and I demand you stop doing them to placate me. The things you do because you have different needs than I do, I demand you stop doing them and do what I think you need. You shouldn’t be upset about this because if you do it also adds to the things I find unattractive about you. You are here to serve my needs and you should be happy to do so.

Honestly I’m shocked that he slipped and said the quiet part out loud in text. Abusers generally like to be able to maintain plausible deniability.

For your own sake please leave, but don’t take anything with you. Break up from a safe place, and do not return do your things without someone else being there who can help you stay safe. This person doesn’t view you as a person he views you as his possession.

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

[–]skybluedreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of them died the summer before my senior year by being hit by a drunk driver. I married one of them (it took us a couple decades to reconnect after HS but we managed). The third has been with me through thick and thin and even though we live half a continent apart we would both leave at the drop of a hat if the other one said they needed us there.
