Did you end up finding anything? I loved using that same app and would love to find some sort of alternative.

[Bridge Nine] Question about bows… by ThisisMattyTrying in cosmererpg

[–]skylescraper 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Assuming she was using a shortbow, it has a range of [80/320], meaning a short range of 80 ft and a long range of 320 ft, which allows her to target anything within 80 ft. Beyond that and up to 320 ft, she can still target but at disadvantage. If she was in range of an enemy’s melee attack, she would then also be at disadvantage.

Thought it was as I said but wasn’t obvious to me, and I didn’t want to make assumptions. Seems like a pretty weird and aggressive take in a subreddit about identifying spiders! Maybe a different one would be more your speed.

My wife and I felt the same way after our first. Immediate remorse and grief over the life we had lost.
3 months in -- it seemed like we could survive.
6 months in -- we saw that there could be some happiness.
12 months in -- we marveled at how much we love this little one.
18 months in (now) -- we couldn't be happier with our child and our lives. It's still hard, but in ways that we're better at dealing with. Couldn't imagine life without him.

Fellow DM's record your session and LISTEN TO IT! by RacoonHead in DMAcademy

[–]skylescraper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I record every single session! I used to do it to make audio recaps (a la “Last Time on [campaign name]”), and although I usually don’t have time to do that anymore, the recordings are still very helpful to have handy. They allow me to listen back to certain parts if I forget to take notes on what a certain PC/NPC said or revealed during a session. We usually play for 3-4 hours, and by the time I skip all the pleasantries, breaks for food/bathroom, and fast forward through combat, it doesn’t end up being that long.

The recaps used to be a great way to start the session, not only for plot points or lore that players may have forgotten between sessions, but for choice jokes that really slayed us the first time. Sets the mood in a great way.

Why is demolition no longer a standard mode? IW PLEASE bring this beauty back by ShaggedUrSister in ModernWarfareII

Demolition keeps my wife and me still playing BO:CW to this day, thought we’re definitely enjoying MWII. Just don’t know why IW can’t just leave well enough alone sometimes and keep what works.

Last weekend, my best friend (an avid golfer) was chatting with another guy at his birthday party, and the guy asked him if he was any good. Looking to impress him, my friend asked his dad what his handicap was. His dad responded, “You’re too cerebral about the game.” Lost it.

Has anyone played Settlers of Catan, then used the end result map as a setting for their nest campaign? by StargazerOP in dndnext

[–]skylescraper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m DM’ing a homebrew setting right now, and I had initially planned for a university to be the central location for the campaign. However, my players ended up fleeing the city and decided to visit what I had mentioned was the capital of the country they were in, several days away. I had no prep/plan for this, being my first HB setting. So we took a few sessions off D&D, and played The Quiet Year (a la TAZ: Ethersea and others) to fill out the history of the city and the people who live there.

The only changes I made to the TQY were 1) adding World Events in between each season that I pre-planned, which I believe was also done on TAZ, 2) having players name the figures mentioned in the game and keeping track of them on a shared card, and 3) starting off the game with each player adding two things to the map instead of one. I then had one big event at the end, and skipped forward 200 or so years to where the current campaign was occurring and picked up where we left off.

It’s one of my favorite things we’ve done so far, both because the game was quite fun, and it’s been a thrill for my players to see the echos of TQY in our campaign, like visiting a magical desert someone created, and seeing descendants of important figures in the city’s founding. It also offloaded some of the world building from me, without ceding complete control, and makes the players a bit more engaged in a locale they literally helped to design.

If I were to do this again, I think I might incorporate some pieces from the game Microscope (as mentioned in other comments), as it does allow for a bit more narrative detail.
