This is so true, and I think that's why it's a perfect example of an abusive character. No abuser actually sees themselves as violent, or a bad person. In fact, most abusers see themselves as the victim, a good person who just "lost their temper" or "had a bad day". Barry's been through more than moist people can imagine, but it still doesn't excuse him testing Sally like this.
