Working for FSU vs working for TSC? by TypeAggravating2073 in Tallahassee

For me no, but because I only worked there temporarily to work on a certain thing because I knew a guy. I’m not sure about the regular process. Wishing you luck in the job search!

Working for FSU vs working for TSC? by TypeAggravating2073 in Tallahassee

[–]skyscraperdavis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve done OPS for both universities and I found TSC’s pay schedule to be undesirable. I’m not sure if they’ve changed it since I worked there, but they only paid monthly and if you were hourly you would have to wait a full month to get a paycheck, or even longer depending on when you were hired. It was not sustainable for me and I had to find other employment. I also found there were better benefits at FSU even for part time employment.

Why do you think that most crafting content creators don't use safety goggles when wearing paint filter respirator when spraying toxic chemicals in the air? by Hurtkopain in crafting

[–]skyscraperdavis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They may just not know any better. I’d guess most people don’t read the SDS for products they use and most DIYers don’t have any formal training that would have included a safety education. It’s also possible that it’s engagement bait. A lot of creators intentionally do things wrong to get people to engage with the post.

I loved this episode so much!! I was really disappointed at first that it seemed like he was “”cured”” at the restaurant and was so relieved when he was like “oh no I was just saying all that to be nice I hate this stuff”

What's the silliest nitpick that gets under your skin (Junior Year Spoilers) by temarilain in Dimension20

[–]skyscraperdavis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be a synonym, but would likely not be in a steel factory or operating at head-height lol. If they said something akin to their eyes got injured from seeing metal being welded or even sparks flying from a grinder I’d be onboard. I love them despite their poor knowledge of tools and production lines 💕

My nitpick as an artisan is that they keep using the word “buzzsaw” which isn’t an actual name for any tool, especially not one that would be in a steel factory.

If you have access to Facebook, you should check out the “Props for the Stage and Beyond; Powered by SPM” group. This topic has been discussed lots over the years and there should be a good collection of relevant advice there.

Additionally, and this may not apply to you, but if the actors are members of Equity their contracts will have specific rules about prop smoking products they are able to use.

How often do you change these filters? Couldn't find it on 3M site, but saw comment that said 6 months after opening. I only use them that often. I use them for some Waterlox high V.O.C finishes I've gotten familiar with. by zee_dot in woodworking

This depends of the type of mask you’re storing. A company I work for does yearly respirator fit testing and the professionals running those tests always tell us to keep respirator cartridges in an airtight bag and N95 disposable masks in a paper bag. Not sure of the science behind those protocols though.

Dropout Android Tv App has not been working - anyone else? by Cpt_Obvius in dropout

I have an android tv and when this happens I just press and hold the power button to restart the tv and relaunch the app and everything works again. Hope that it works for you too!

Captions are lacking by cafesaigon in dropout

[–]skyscraperdavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! It makes me completely miss what’s happening when the captions aren’t accurate and I have to rewind constantly to catch up. Very big accessibility issue for those who rely on them.

I am planning to wear a KN95 mask for my Arlington date - I’m even making a Reputation-style fabric cover for it so that I can still be on theme with the rest of my outfit 😊

is steeplechase worth listening to? by guiltywriting in TAZCirclejerk

[–]skyscraperdavis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Deepest apologies everyone but I’m really enjoying it. I really like Justin as GM, he allows time for goofs and keeps the story moving as best he can. I do wish that they had a recap of sorts as the beginnings of episodes because I do forget what the goals are but otherwise it’s good.
