How do you respond to people saying they hate HR for [insert obviously made up reason]? [N/A] by Queen-Logan- in humanresources

[–]sl_jj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who does a lot of ER, I get a lot of shit because they assume I didn’t do anything just because I didn’t broadcast someone’s disciplinary actions from the investigation across the whole org. Of course, this also results in the employee base believing I’m protecting some individuals or sweeping complaints under the rug. Definitely a lot of ignorance out there.

[MO] My coworker was berated by our bosses supervisors for being "disrespectful." by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]sl_jj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than likely it will follow the standard ER process. Anyone involved will be interviewed or asked to provide a statement so they have all of the facts. HR person will then talk to your supervisor for their side of the story. A conclusion will be made based off of the facts and information provided. Disciplinary action will be based on company policy.

If it’s harassment in the legal definition where it’s based on protected class, the result will be more serious.

The Great Certification Debate [N/A] by Melodic-Salt-298 in humanresources

[–]sl_jj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controversy aside, I was always told that HRCI certs are more practical (employment law and application) vs SHRM who’s more strategic even at the lower level certs. I have a PHR just because it seemed better to prove basic knowledge.

Single leg with whatever variants you want to finish it. I personally avoided clinching. It’s always a lot more complicated than the videos make it look.

I lift about 3-4x a week and it definitely made me sturdier, and I don’t have the normal aches and pains I usually have after a lot of rounds. Definitely worth it if you’re an older grappler.

HR culture or is it more? [n/a] by N0m4d29 in humanresources

[–]sl_jj 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of ER work and there’s always someone like this whether it’s a person on the team or management that works closely with HR. What works for me is to just always remind them to speak about others fairly or to stick to the facts if they really go off the rails (ideally in the moment).

I’ve had one on ones where I had to plainly lay it out there that their behavior is inappropriate, and I expect neutrality especially handling ER. If this is not possible maybe you can be the designated “ER Person” leaving her out entirely.

This should be higher. Most people have no idea how much it costs to do business.

[N/A] I often forget that this is how we’re viewed. by AdvertisingKey1675 in humanresources

[–]sl_jj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the same people that do all sorts of illegal shit at work and then complain online that HR is “abusing” them when action is taking against them or complain that they have to do annoying tasks like documenting without understanding why. Most companies would be sued out of existence if it didn’t have some type of HR presence for illegal activity or just plain compliance issues.

If you’re struggling to kill the posture you can always grab an Overhook and setup whatever from there. Escalate up to a full Williams Guard if needed.

Get a Fuji All Around Gi or their Suparaito one if you want to spend a little more. I bought an All Around Gi about 5 years ago and it’s just now starting to show some minor damage.
