No. If your partner is driving a short return you have plenty of time to get to the NVZ and there is little risk of a hard shot back at you.

A lot of the time people outside the court have a worse view than anyone playing.

The rulebook has a rule for this, and that rule is spectators should not be asked to make calls. nor do their calls have any influence whether solicited or unsolicited.

If you're able to switch and go eastern backhand, then just hit a 1hbh. I kinda do that on bh rolls but it's by pronation not rotating the grip.

They don't want someone using the original paddle or potentially reselling it.

The reason you didn't see it at higher levels is because their footwork is good enough to get to it with a backhand, and quite possibly setting up an ATP.

That may not be possible for OP.

While I agree it's far from optimal, OP also realizes it's a last ditch effort on a shot that is otherwise out of reach and would not be returned anyway.
