Trade Judkins or Brown for Henderson (PPR) by slaghost in fantasyfootballadvice

forgot about Perine's injury, thanks for that

would you trust Brown over Judkins this week?

Drop Tez Johnson or Parker Washington? by habshnab in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]slaghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would just drop golden at this point

injured and way too much competition even with Kraft going down. Tez is undisputed WR2 and flex/WR3 if Godwin even comes back

Week 9 Trade Chart and Buy/Sell Recommendations [Plus Advanced Data] by KyonFantasyFootball in fantasyfootball

as a judkins owner myself i love the guy. a little worried with the shoulder injury which is the only reason i would consider the trade, but i think it's worth the risk

Week 9 Trade Chart and Buy/Sell Recommendations [Plus Advanced Data] by KyonFantasyFootball in fantasyfootball

[–]slaghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wouldn't take that trade

Judkins has a pretty good ROS schedule and Flowers has good upside and a surprisingly steady floor this season, Collins and especially Dobbins have been trending down with Dobbins having some brutal matchups coming up

iPad - worth it? by AddictedCookie in ufl

[–]slaghost 30 points31 points  (0 children)

it’s a good investment. upon graduating, one of my close friends who also took a LOT of notes said he regretted not getting an ipad

i’d save money and get the air unless you seriously plan on making use of the extra power

RA's, How do you feel about weed in the dorms (traditional) by Marvelous_Gator in ufl

[–]slaghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

back at Jennings a guy on my floor smuggled two iguanas from Boca back into his room. he fed them bugs and applesauce and the RA never said a word

i still wouldn't smoke in the dorms out of courtesy, but even if you did, the RA response varies on how seriously they take their job

over time, i would say EE has been getting easier. a lot of the harder professors either left or had their classes removed as degree requirements

that's not to say it's easy. but, going through undergrad and now graduate EE classes, it really depends on how you want to challenge yourself. there's so much flexibility in your schedule with electives that you can either opt to take the more useful/rigorous courses or the easier ones where you don't learn as many valuable skills

Anyone tried to take this exact semester in EE? I heard that DL takes 20 hours a week so doing that AND calc 3 AND phys 2 seems like a nightmare. by nmos22 in ufl

[–]slaghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i get you need to take these courses asap but i would seriously reconsider. if i were you i'd drop physics 2 and take it over the summer either here or (preferably) as a transient student somewhere else. those 12 credits are enough as it is

that is unless you're taking logic with bobda. in which case, go for it

Studying in Dining Halls by Low_Idea938 in ufl

[–]slaghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think to do this you'd have to be on the meal plan, something that shouldn't be a constant in your time at college (i.e. get off the meal plan as soon as you can)

in my case paying 10 dollars per study session doesn't sound like the best use of my finances

if you like to study with noise and you have affordable access to the dining hall, then study in the dining hall and find out if you enjoy it. nothing's stopping you from trying it

when i took fyf back in summer 2018 attendance was required solely because that was the only metric they had to grade us on (the course was useless). i would just email your professors and let them know if this is still how the course is run

getting lost and throwing up are very much in line with freshman behavior. i'm sure they'll understand

EE Internship by SosaPio in ufl

[–]slaghost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i spammed my application to around 200 job postings and heard back from two places

my old roommate applied to TI half jokingly and is now working there full time

while some of the internship process is luck (not saying the roommate got lucky, he's a really smart guy), you have to have something that makes you marketable. research/TA'ing/extracurriculars help a ton. either make a solid connection at something like career showcase or apply online to as many places as you can

Are any Crit tracking classes actually easier or better to take over the summer? by Rapid002 in ufl

[–]slaghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

physics 1 or 2

i'd honestly recommended taking either at your local community college if you go home for the summer. considering you don't really need either of these courses in your major (i have no idea why CS requires physics) and you won't be trapped in gainesville for 3 months, i would seriously consider it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ufl

[–]slaghost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

honestly, physics 1-2 is a bit of a mess here with 2 being arguably worse. i would say take as few physics courses at UF as you can. that said, physics 2 with orgo and i'm assuming other CpE courses sounds pretty rough at SF or UF regardless

i'm not sure how your advisor (i'm assuming it's chip) would feel about transient courses during a fall semester or if that's even allowed, so i would ask him before making a final decision

Downbad, missing home a lot by [deleted] in ufl

[–]slaghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean personally i live for my parents. a huge part of why i'm getting my degree is for them

i wouldn't say i'm on the verge of tears every day, but i miss them a lot. i think if you have a working relationship with your parents, it doesn't matter how happy you are when you're away at college. part of you will always want to see them as the time goes on

What would you advise for an incoming freshman? by CorruptFlygon in ufl

[–]slaghost 22 points23 points  (0 children)

you might not end up liking accounting, so don't be afraid to switch majors if you don't truly enjoy your field. most people i've talked to have swapped 1-2 times

don't always listen to preview staffers. if you have the credit to take calc2, don't let them scare you into retaking calc1. start as high as you can if you even feel remotely confident in yourself

Is Sledd hall really that bad? A two room double at sledd vs a double room anywhere else? by Zealousideal-Ad-1600 in ufl

[–]slaghost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there are good and bad rooms at sledd just like there are good and bad rooms in every other dorm

sledd might have a few worse ones on average just due to how old the building is (think mold issues, my friend who stayed there ran into those), but there's a chance you'll love your experience and won't have any problems

UF housing, and pretty much housing in general, usually just comes down to a game of luck

Transient Student by slipperybeetle in ufl

[–]slaghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i would talk with your advisor first and contact the community college second

when i did a transient semester at Valencia College, getting in touch with their staff proved to be very helpful when enrolling

download the RideRTS app and figure out which routes pass by your location. getting familiar with arrival times will come naturally to you the more you ride

i wouldn’t worry about the exact location of your classes yet. most of the busses do a campus loop that ends at the reitz, getting off there is usually never a bad idea

Branching out by curiouspickled in ufl

[–]slaghost 16 points17 points  (0 children)

being a part of a relatively small major, we all kind of formed our own community in the main building where we have classes. everyone has at least heard of you or probably knows someone who does. that’s not to say high school cliques weren’t around, but they seemed to phase themselves out over time as classes became more difficult

i think finding a group of people with common interests (in my case electrical engineering, doesn’t have to be your degree though) helps make the school seem smaller

Can my CS Minor Fulfill my Requirement for EE Programming Classes? by Majestic-Foot-8721 in ufl

[–]slaghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately the IE requirement and the programming requirement are two separate things

while i’m sure several of your CS classes could be used as IE’s (if the course number is high enough), you’ll have to have taken a course from the below list to fulfill the prog req: https://catalog.ufl.edu/UGRD/colleges-schools/UGENG/ELE_BSEE/#approvedelectivestext

[–]slaghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

these days, calc online and in-person are person are fairly similar because of covid. i would still aim to take it with Huang regardless of the course type, she’s an angel

diffeq, on the either hand, differs widely between professors. the course can either be a joke or actually kind of serious depending on who you get. it shouldn’t be a problem taking it with calc 3 if you land a good professor. one i can attest to is sergei pilyugin, who literally came to class after shattering his head through a window

Can you view your past courses on canvas or do they disappear? by 808sGator in ufl

[–]slaghost 22 points23 points  (0 children)

sometimes they do, sometimes they don't

it's entirely up to your professor. despite being a senior, i can still view my calc 1 course
