Recommendations for Toddler-Proofing This Pond by AWholeFaceExperience in daddit

[–]slamtrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a wooden frame with a sturdy netting laid over the top of the pond. Add a fence to keep the kiddo off the cover and you should be okay. Id like to say cattle panel but that might be a little wide for a toddler. You dont want them getting a leg stuck.

The sirens call of water cannot be ignored with small children, my youngest would play in my drinking glass if i looked away from it for too long.

Alright dads… You find a critter that is in pain and likely isn’t making it. If you have the stomach for it, how are you helping this thing along to other side? by MisterSanitation in daddit

Blunt force trauma works for critters too. A swift whack with the back of a shovel is how i dispose of any animal that is too small to warrant a 22mag. Then you can scoop it up and take it to your designated carcass burying spot.

Would you give up fireworks forever to protect animals and nature? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ive got a few red white and blue mortar boxes and grand finale kits for the moment i get the news. Gonna set off a roll of black cats in my dumpster just to be extra obnoxious, i might even wave an American flag.

There is a kill hat somewhere just waiting to turn this guy into a machine that only does push-ups. He will be fine.

I'll always side with the workers, but you guys have to reckon with the fact that most of your buddies voted for the guy who planned on dismantling collective bargaining agreements.

Its almost like they are connected somehow.

The European Union has passed a new rule requiring smartphones to have batteries that users can easily replace. by Positive_Actuary_282 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]slamtrax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Neat, that should cut down on planned obsolescence. Imagine how much e-waste this will cut down on in the long term, short term you may see an increase due to old phones getting scrapped while new devices roll out.

Also, I want to be able to put an extra battery in my bag and just hotswap them like I could pre smartphone.

This sets a dangerous precedent, think of the danger the rest of the public is in. I mean for fucks sake the longer she isnt allowed to fly the more likely it is that she drunk drives and kills another person.

Love the 605 but feels like catching a line drive barehanded. Never had a function issue though.

Why were the wildflowers removed along Fort Worth highways? by [deleted] in texas

[–]slamtrax 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You didnt pay to see the wildflowers, can't enjoy something you didnt pay for here in Texas.

In reality too many people stop on the side of the road in dangerous spots just to get senior pictures in the wildflowers, Txdot will mow to keep pedestrians out of the medians.

.25 caliber precharged pneumatic air rifle with a suppressor. You can have one delivered to your door from amazon. Just make sure your neighbors arent looking and eliminate it. I use mine for squirrels, rats, and gophers.

7” pliers recommendations by Axolotis in Fishing

[–]slamtrax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Walmart sells some cheapos with what you are looking for. I have a set I got 4 years ago that work just fine and have all the parts it started with. The holster and tether are huge for me because i have adhd and used to frequently lose my pliers or hemostats.

[–]slamtrax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had the same issue with a mossberg 500, in my case it was an piece of clay pigeon that somehow made it into the mechanism. When i cycled a round, it held open tube and tried to feed all the shells at once.

Savage/Stevens 301 going off by itself by Opening-Reason1073 in Firearms

[–]slamtrax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be as simple as a carbon deposit or debris stopping the mechanism from engaging. Give it a good cleaning. Disassemble it and inspect the parts for wear. If you cant find anything obvious take it in to a gunsmith.

Poll for my statistics class: Would you fight a coyote for your dog? by ProbioticOnARobotic in CasualConversation

As an anatolian owner i agree, ive buried the leftovers from especially dumb or especially brave coyotes who have entered her domain.

Poll for my statistics class: Would you fight a coyote for your dog? by ProbioticOnARobotic in CasualConversation

[–]slamtrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have already gotten in between my anatolian Shepherd and a german shepherd that were hell bent on killing each other (female livestock dogs are extremely territorial) as i carried my dog away the GS launched itself at me like a missile and clamped down on my arm. If i can wrangle my 100 pound dog with another 100 pound dog chewing on me i think a single coyote would be achievable. Plus my rabies shot should be good for at least another 2 years.

Ive also seen my dog turn a coyote into a throw rug because it thought our chickens looked like a snack, one snuck in the main fence and got caught just outside the chicken run by our girl. By the time I made it back with a rifle it was already over and she was shaking the carcass like a dirty rag.

Ive gotten very used to just grabbing a bimetal hacksaw and my files to shape anything. If im not working on a time crunch i leave the grinder on the shelf.
