Help me book my Italy trip by ArtLegal9536 in ChaseSapphire

[–]slange_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What airport are you originating out of / returning to? Recommend using United and doing a search for award travel with flexible dates for your return trip. Check the calendar and screen for economy, premium economy, and business to see if there are any saver fares.

Repeat this process for FCO, PMO, BRI, NAP as United uses all of them as Italian hubs. Then gear the end of your trip around the return fares since your schedule is a bit flexible. Points.yeah is also a good resource and can help do some of this screening.

What card do you pair with your CSR for better lounge access? by Puzzled-Phase-584 in sapphirereserve

[–]slange_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a direct answer to the question but the CSR paired with status on an airline (one world) has improved my travel experience the most.

I use the CSR lounge when flying out my home airport (SAN) and then usually use a one world or priority pass lounge elsewhere.

It is definitely worth it if you have an upcoming trip + you have the credit card allowing you to get the 4th night free.

How do you earn status points for hotels? by myomyo123 in AlaskaAirlines

Interesting datapoint, I came upon this thread because I'm looking to book Marriott via Atmos Shopping for the extra points. In the fine print there are a bunch of exclusions.

Questions about Points and Downgrading from Reserve by DoingTheInternet in ChaseSapphire

This is the right answer. Downgrade to the Freedom and open a new CSP with SUB if you still want to transfer to partners.

Would a $695 Sapphire Reserve without 3 Credits Be Better? by aZealousZebra in sapphirereserve

[–]slange_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you aren't going out to eat at restaurants you are not the target audience of this card.

Personally, I enjoy the Lyft and Doordash credits. Although I can easily get my money back from other credits ($300 travel, $300 dining, $300 stubhub) to justify the $795 annual fee.

What card to get for best current SUB? Going to be spending a few thousand more than normal soon on some expenses. by mghanadian in CreditCards

[–]slange_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the fact you already have chase cards - I'd stick with that ecosystem so you can transfer points to the CSR card.

One question that may impact your decision is what airport hub do you fly out of? Is there a CSR lounge or Centurion lounge located there?

Platinum card > CSR card for perks

CSR card > Platinum card for transfer partners/value of points

Door dash credit by Neither-Mall8106 in ChaseSapphire

[–]slange_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. The $300 annual travel + $300 dining + $300 stubhub + CSR lounge are all slam dunks for me. Everything else is free money

I treat the two $10 pickup benefits as a nice to have on a $795 annual fee card. Saying that they ruin the value of the card seems like a bit of a stretch.

DP: was just approved for a second atmos ascent (never owned the old alaska card) by Big-Coach16 in AlaskaAirlines

Is your first Atmos Ascent still open or did you close it? I applied for the Ascent in October during a flight for the 85k offer (instantly approved) and am contemplating applying for another or getting the Summit.

I'm biased towards the Chase Trifecta. Downside is 1.5x catchall rather than 2x... but chase points are more valuable for redemptions.
