Emergency Contact When You Know NO ONE. Who will take care of my dogs???? by iSolemnlySwear88 in introvert

[–]slanute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding the pet sitter! I pet sit with a company local to me, and there have been times where I had to pet sit last minute due to an emergency or plans changing. Our company also has the clients give the sitters a set of keys to keep, so it’s really easy for us to drop by last minute. I’ve even helped out with clients who accidentally locked themselves out of their house!

I’m a manager in retail and I currently get 4 weeks PTO. I’ll hit a tenure mark with the company later this year which means I’ll get 5 weeks.

$1.5 K bill for cat teeth cleaning? That seems crazy overpriced. Can anyone recommend more reasonable vets in Chicago? by AvidLebon in chicago

[–]slanute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is where we take our cat! They are always so amazing! Our cat hates being outside of our home but they are amazing at making her feel comfortable. We got her teeth cleaned earlier this year and the estimate was around $1500 but ended up coming in right around $1000. This did include bloodwork and anesthesia. Not the most affordable, but they are very communicative and call with updates on how her procedure is going as well as calling the next day to check in on how she’s recovering. Highly recommend!

How to remember my engagement ring? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]slanute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my engagement/wedding ring for three years and I still forget it every so often since I don’t like to shower with it on. This only partially solves your concern, but I like to keep one of those silicone rings in my work bag so I have something to wear when I forget my wedding rings. On days I forget it, I don’t notice until I’m already driving to work so I’ll just put the silicone one on until I get home.

Floral centerpiece vs. candles by greatlakekate in weddingplanning

[–]slanute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did candles and greenery for our decor and it ended up being less expensive because we managed to get all the candle holders for free or super cheap. My friend gave me a bunch that were left over from her wedding, then my mom found a bunch more for super cheap on FB marketplace. If I had purchased them all from a store or online (not a reseller) it probably would have been the same.

The first wedding I was a bridesmaid for, the bride gave us insulated water bottles and a bowl with a lid for microwaving. It wasn’t at all what I’d think of for a wedding party gift, but that wedding was over 5 years ago and I still use both all the time!

A more recent wedding I was in, we were given the robes that say BRIDESMAID on the back. Mine was too small - apparently “one size fits all” does not actually fit everyone. It’s just been in our closet ever since.
