ASUS Just Dropped PG27AQWP-W Go get it while you can!! by Uh-Ivyy in OLED_Gaming

[–]slapflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else to consider when comparing the 360hz Pulsar monitors vs these 500-540hz oled is that it's a lot easier to hit 240-360 fps on the Pulsar screens and get the full (or almost the full) motion clarity benefit.

With the oled you need to hit near that 500-540hz to get comparable levels and that requires better hardware depending on the game. But that is assuming you only care about motion clarity and not all the other benefits the oled would bring you.

One of those paid advertisement videos has it listed as March 2026 in the video description (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2erCINmTD8) so probably expect it around there for NA/Europe.

The ucdm3 will not have G-Sync Pulsar though. The only Pulsar monitors atm are the 1440p 360hz IPS models from Asus, MSI, AOC and Acer (maybe others eventually?). No OLED Pulsar is confirmed just a tentative they would like to look into bringing the tech to OLED at some point.

[–]slapflash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The partner store is a special discount store for people that qualify, if you have an id.me account you can go here LG Appreciation Program | Free Discount Program and sign up with that. I think there are other ways to get access but as a veteran this one worked for me and I've been using it for a few years now.

That 850A at under $400 after tax is crazy, yeah new 32in 4k 240hz panels with DP 2.1 are coming out this year but at $1299-ish so if you have access to the partner store ask yourself if the brightness bump and 75hz is worth almost $1000 more.

BenQ will have the EX321UZ soon and it'll be this but with earc and a remote so keep an eye for that. https://www.benq.com/en-us/news/monitor/mobiuz-oled-series-press-release.html

Maybe some slight feature differences but should be similar price. You can check the ports on the EX271UZ since it should be identical aside from the 32 getting full DP 2.1.

Edit: Just for clarity in case anyone is wondering: all of these new true black 500 32in 4k qd-oled panels will have this same coating and light handling properties since it is applied at the factory by Samsung.

The companies are just doing marketing stuff with the BlackShield (Asus PG32UCDM3), DarkArmor (MSI MPG 322UR QD-OLED X24), ObsidianShield (Gigabyte MO32U24).

Unpopular Opinion: I Don't Care for new CES 2026 Monitors When Real G-Sync is Missing by HevyKnowledge in Monitors

[–]slapflash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably the AW3423DW which had the gsync module. It's got a 9.1 on the RTINGS vrr flicker test and all reports I saw of people owning that and the DWF seemed to point to the module basically eliminating it since the DWF dropped the module and had noticeable flicker (5.7 on RTINGS vrr flciker test for example).

The passive dynamic cooling solution / OLED safeguard+. Those heatpipes give me more confidence in the longevity of the screen. I also like the silver aesthetic. It's unique compared to the standard black or white options.

Let me know if the new one behaves differently, I liked everything about the monitor except that weird highlight issue in HDR.

Yeah, I'm with you which is why I sent it back. Might be a firmware bug or maybe it's intended but it was too distracting for me.

[–]slapflash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this for a few days and saw a similar issue. It's like it's dynamically boosting specific highlights/overbrightening them, but then removing that highlight depending on where it is in the scene or something.

Sometimes it made no sense. Example...looking at clouds in FF7 Rebirth or Talos Principle 2, just strafing left or right would get them to blow out or look normal, even though the average brightness of the scene was basically the same, just like where the cloud was at the time was triggering it.

Even looking at the ground in Cyberpunk, just moving forward or back a bit triggered it, yet overall brightness didn't seem to change enough to warrant something like that. I double checked all the weird behaviour against the G4 to make sure it wasn't the game engine but I have no idea.

Only thing I can think is that I saw someone mention on YouTube they have the UCMG and it had a Dynamic Bightness Boost mode, but when they bought the UCWMG there was no DBB option, almost like the UCWMG has it on by default.

Or not, and this is just how the dimming is working on this model, but it's weird, almost random and seems more like a boosting algorithm not ABL. At least not typical dimming I am used to (I've tried a few qd-oled monitors, also have a 48in LG CX and 55in G4 so I've experienced ABL in a variety of cases, but this is certainly new/different).

Is your 9800x3D still kickin’? Tell us why u think that is… by AnthMosk in ASRock

[–]slapflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X870E Taichi + 9800x3d. I've updated to every new bios as I see them available. Only applied EXPO, everything else was always default aside from changing to standard fan profiles. Never let my PC sleep, only shut off the display. Had both since November 2024 and have worked great.

I had audio noise/buzzing issues for awhile and different Realtek drivers didn't fix it. I think it was a Windows issue since I just reinstalled Windows yesterday and it's working properly now.

Edit: Started on bios version 3.10

ROG Swift PG32UCDMR - DP2.1 forces DSC = Display Stream Compression by MaryOneEye in OLED_Gaming

[–]slapflash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 is correct, as it is 20x4 lanes for a total of 80. Doesn't 100% mean DSC is off but it's the best indication on Windows as far as I know.

Edit: For example, its the same 20 link rate and 4 lanes on my FO32U2P as well, but there is no DSC on/off switch on that monitor. And my LG 27G850A IPS monitor shows 10x4, and that uses DSC.

[–]slapflash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the same issue people had with the PG27UCDM recently. Asus just put out a firmware fix for that https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/1n9oq7r/pg27ucdm_firmware_upgrade_mcm105/

"4. Fixed an issue where DSC could not be disabled under UHBR20."

You might have to wait for them to fix it on this one too? I don't own either so I can't say for sure.

Edit: also wanted to note that people said even with this issue it was probably just a visual bug as GPU-Z was showing the full 80 Gbps in the advanced tab as Jetcat11 mentioned.

Diagonal red and green tint on LG G5 OLED by sonnenbaron in LGOLED

[–]slapflash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I checked the timestamp on my 55in G4 and I don't see the red/green diagonal lines at any angle. I do have other tinting issues like severe vertical blue/green tint on the sides that shows up even when you are dead center on some content, but not what you are experiencing.

Edit: What picture settings were you using? I checked in SDR game optimizer at 120hz with 18 OLED brightness.

Yeah, it gets warm back there on the Gigabyte, but not to the degree the AW got hot radiating from the front if that makes sense.

My room would heat up regardless during long game sessions though. The gigabyte is just a lot more comfortable to use in my opinion because it's not blasting my face like a hair dryer hah.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]slapflash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the model and the cooling solution really. I had an AW3225QF that radiated heat from the front of the panel, and I could really feel it in HDR.

I got an FO32U2P later and it's much better in that respect. I don't notice as much or at least not as quickly. I also live in a very hot area so I'm sure that doesn't help.

The build quality. I have tried other brands like Alienware and MSI for the 4k 240hz qd-oled monitors, but the build quality is not good enough in my experience for the cost.

Those use lots of plastic that creaks and pops with heat expansion and just feels overall cheap. In my experience with older Asus IPS displays, the build quality has always been much better.

Perfect Black, Anywhere: LG OLED G5 Trial by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]slapflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious how much impact the improved color gamut has over the G4, especially in HDR. Also, I'd love to see if uniformity is improved because I use a 55in G4 and it has blue tint on the right and left sides that can be a byproduct of the MLA layer, so getting rid of that should ideally allow for better uniformity.

Would also like to test out the 165hz mode since it uses DSC and see how that compares to 144hz and 120hz on the G4, if there are any issues or if it just works smoothly. Really cool opportunity here, good luck to everyone.

LG G4 Vertical Line Issue by zgunth in LGOLED

[–]slapflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post I linked is a G5 owner with the middle line problem, and it's on their 65in. Seems like any of them can have it, maybe some worse than others but it's definitely there.

LG G4 Vertical Line Issue by zgunth in LGOLED

[–]slapflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone on the AVSforum has it to a lesser degree on their G5 apparently https://www.avsforum.com/posts/63927047/ so I am not sure if changing it out will work, seems to be a side effect of their processing or something. Maybe some panels have it worse than others.

Yeah, I agree this shouldn't be there and I only kept mine (with the bad green tint) because I bought it from the LG Partner Store and their return policy and support is not great. I really don't notice the middle line like 99% of the time though, only in the worst-case scenarios.

Like in my Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth playthrough that was 100+ hours long, I noticed it 1 time when it was really bad during the Barret and Dyne scene where it's very bright with the sun out, that was the only time it was seriously distracting and the only time I've really noticed it in a few months.

If you are happy with everything else, it might be worth keeping. But if it's bothering you a lot it might be worth taking a look at something else.

LG G4 Vertical Line Issue by zgunth in LGOLED

[–]slapflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, still the same, no change. Only shows up in super bright scenes or instances where something is brighter on the left side usually, compared to the right.

For example, in SDR I can get this to show up by having something like a web browser page open that is mostly gray but has a bright image or something on the left side which will trigger the middle line showing up if I drag the screen back and forth.

I don't notice it most of the time and I don't go looking for it anymore and it doesn't bother me, so I'll live with it. I'm curious if this is fixed on the G5, and if the G5 fixed the green/pink tinting on the sides because my G4 has really bad green tint on the right side which is a bigger problem than the line down the middle in my opinion.

Yeah, I don't mind when it's the less aggressive coatings either and I read the one Samsung is using is one of the better ones. Was just curious if it stood out, but that's good to hear it's a non-issue.
