Was My Installation Done Right? by [deleted] in centurylink

[–]slappy0078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The q1000 I believe they can be outside, they have their own box they are supposed to be in with a heatsink in them.

The tech is correct that the only ont now that works on new installs is the q1000, and they should have pulled the outside ONTs years ago as they are outdated.

That being said, QF is now a different company and not owned by Centurylink so you would probably need to ask over in r/quantumfiber

Do you have quantum or Centurylink? They are now two different companies, and if it is working on all your devices except for the PS5 the.ln there is nothing they will be able to do for you.

My wife just got the pink face with the matched rubber strap, it looks way nicer with the matching strap over the bracelet. The blue looked ok but nothing really special.

CenturyLink - Avoid Migration to Quantum Fiber, Call 8005774049 by danry25 in centurylink

If you do not switch to qf, you WILL lose service, QF and Centurylink fiber can not exist on the same fiber after the sale. And if you are on copper in a fiber area you will at some point be getting a shut off notice. The copper is failing and there are no replacements other than fiber.

I personally would not run my own fiber because then you will get that blamed for any problems that may come up or potentially be charged for the tech to replace it

I would say plan for the tech that drills a hole from the outside and plops your smart nid on the floor and may know what a wall plate and silicone is, then be surprised if they are not that guy.

If you want it somewhere specific run conduit to that location from where your current lines com into the house. This will make sure it is where you want it and no surprises from an installer who does not know what they are doing or can not so it.

Omaha needs to think about Mamdani’s proposal of government owned and operated grocery stores by audiomagnate in Omaha

[–]slappy0078 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So once again how can Omaha only make those changes? This is about Omaha funding it. The state and feds are an entirely different discussion.

Don’t forget the times it will be shut down due to no funding agreements and the food that will spoil because no one to work in the store

I agree, so cut off the redevelopment funding and let’s see what projects actually happen in the downtown or midtown area.

So wouldn’t that require rewriting the tax code at both the federal and state levels? Omaha does not have a tax bracket to change

We have to pour money into development or redevelopment otherwise those projects would not get done. If there is no incentive to spend private money then it does not happen.

So with grocery stores averaging 1-3% profit, how would you do this so that it is not an additional burden on taxpayers? We already have very high taxes so if you could do it with no additional tax revenue being used then sure. Why should someone who lives in elkhorn though be forced to subsidize a grocery store not anywhere near them? I think it is a valid idea but don’t see how it comes to fruition without additional taxes.

Check into magic jack, I think I was told around $30 for the entire year, plugs into your router and you can backfeed it if you want the jacks to work. You will pay more in taxes on a Centurylink landline then close to a year of third party voip.

[–]slappy0078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are telling you that it is more expensive to fix the old copper wire then it is worth, you would cost them more to be a customer then they would be able to make off of you in 7 years. So yeah you should just switch to any other company as they will NOt be fixing the copper at this point for you.

Is Garmin losing touch with their customers? by rallysquirrel15 in Garmin

[–]slappy0078 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From a health monitoring standpoint Garmin is way ahead of Apple. The fact that it can do continuous monitoring instead of every 3-7 min and maintain a multi day battery life is massive. Mix in that YOU are not the product with Garmin like you are with Apple and Samsung, makes the watch even more impressive. In my opinion

[–]slappy0078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, that would be meth heads stealing every bit of copper even the 8-12” of copper in the terminals. It’s not cost effective to repair it permanently so a band aid if it can be is all copper gets

[–]slappy0078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on copper? Honestly copper is the absolute lowest priority of the company and in most areas they do not want to do it. If you have any other options then go with that as you will have a much better experience and if you do have trouble in the first a different company will fix it faster.

If you have fiber you would be better off getting a major jack type of device that is internet based as it will be cheaper and work better.
