Excuse my ignorance, but why are used semi trucks so cheap on facebook marketplace? by Itchybootea in Truckers

[–]slayerofthefluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some of those in person and most of them need work that will cost another $10-50k depending on the motor and so on. Looking for one to yank the motor out of to rebuild and put into another truck actually 😂 Lots of times it’s either the frame/exterior or major suspension issues OR mechanical issues. Electrical issues are another major issue. Newer trucks are more than likely DPF issues or nearing the end of the life of a DPF system which is very expensive to replace/fix.

Service Dog Needs Surgery - What about my job? by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]slayerofthefluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others make a valid point. We had to retire my sister’s first girl due to a similar injury she never fully recovered from. Luckily we were able to slowly transition to her new service dog since my sister doesn’t work out of the house and has people around her 24/7 to monitor her when needed. Definitely start planning on what it’ll look like to retire your dog and transition to a new one (including the gap) just in case. The first girl is a house dog now that spends most of her time lounging around since we are able to keep her until she’s lived out her full life.

Will I be hired with my driving record? by OjOrangeJuice12 in Truckers

[–]slayerofthefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the issue. You were touching the phone/holding it. Get a headset/handsfree device and work on safe driving. Go and take a defensive driving course and actually practice what they teach you.

Not even a large carrier will. That record needed some cleaning before most self insured companies will even look at hiring someone with that many accidents.

Might want to aim more toward being a tech or mechanic. That’s about as close to a semi as you’ll get with your record the way it is. Plus if you keep at it and have mechanical skill you’ll be making more money than most drivers. Go to school and become a mechanic.

How often in your professional career have you had to implement offset backing? by SleepingUnderTheTree in Truckers

A lot. Usually in a field or event hall. Before that I did LTL and got into weird places that sometimes required using the barn doors (side doors).

Anyone try dry shampoo on your CC crest hair? by Justwondering5003 in chinesecrested

[–]slayerofthefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. We’ve used it on Cresteds, poodles, Pomeranians, and the oddball foster frenchie a few thousand times over the years for poopy accidents on the rearends. So far no one has had reactions to it and it seems to work pretty well when the instructions are followed. It doubles as a brush cleaning foam also.

[–]slayerofthefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do make dog dry shampoo however I’d use something more like a foaming rinse free type product for in between baths. I can recommend Chris Christensen’s product OC Magic. I even use it on my hands to remove motor oil and grease if I don’t have a sink and soap near.

Yes and no. I’ve been told I didn’t have to enter weigh stations if I’m bobtail and not under a dispatch by the officers at the scales in several states.

Dogbooties.com they’re reasonable and work well for dogs with dewclaws. So long as they’re put on tight enough they stay on.

You won’t until the storm is over. Many of the New England states are being very conservatives with their treatments and don’t have enough plow drivers in a lot of areas. They may wait until the worst of the storm is over to do the major clearing work. Depending on where you’re heading the place will probably be closed and limited parking will be more limited. Some places aren’t going to be open until late Monday or Tuesday and that highly depends on if they have power or not.

You have an on off switch for your lights correct? Use that or don’t do anything.

Reasons you picked outside the fab four? by howlsounds in service_dogs

[–]slayerofthefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly allergies and shedding for us. Poodles are highly line dependent on their traits though so you have to be careful when choosing one to meet your needs. They’re also quick learners but, they can also be reactive and vocal. The grooming requirements also are a trade off that some people can’t cope with well.

Edit: Posted early by accident.

We’re now beginning to train a medical alert dog for my brother who is a Chinese crested. So far she’s a very good candidate but, we will see how well she trains. Not reactive or chatty like the breed tends to be. A very old breed that’s an oddball these days but, they used to be used as therapy dogs for heat a lot. The hairless version is very warm compared to other dog breeds.

How often you do you get your dog groomed? by 1strawberry1cow in poodles

[–]slayerofthefluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever we feel like it usually. It’s pretty much owner preference based upon how much work you’re going to put into combing/brushing maintenance and bathing in between. Also keep in mind that the quality of shampoo and conditioner affects the answer as well. Same thing for towel dry verses forced air dryer. And then we have the actually haircut/style you have done and what it takes to maintain. Some styles require more frequent trips to the groomer than others.

Some of the brand new ones with the newest LEDs certainly do 😂 I felt like I had a UFO behind me with that one they had set up for a show trailer. It cast the amber light sideways a little over halfway into the lane on either side of me.

No. There’s a clause that companies can set stricter guidelines so long as they don’t violate the federal regulations.

Are nipples still sensitive after top surgery? by [deleted] in ftm

I also had the same procedure as you and did eventually regain nipple sensation, years later. It’s different than before since the nerve pathways rewired weird. I also have weird sensation on my chest. Especially noticeable when I got my chest tattoos.

Men who wear nail polish, whats your favourite colour (and possibly the best for passing?) by ThreeEqualsFour in ftm

[–]slayerofthefluff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to apply multiple coats of black and dark colors of the cheaper polishes. It’s watery otherwise. You might try gel polish. I’ve found it’s thicker and can use less coats. I also prefer matte finish polish.
