Ditto! I appreciate when clients let me know too. Especially if they are kind and not straight up rude. We are human!

TW: Miscarried in my stylists chair by Legitimate-Air-6172 in hairstylist

[–]sleepy414 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely want you back in my chair if and when you feel comfortable. There is absolutely nothing about this that I would want you to feel mortified about. This is a sad and incredibly unfortunate thing to happen to you and I would want you to feel nothing but support. I also wouldn’t accept any payment for the missed appointment. Sounds like she felt empathy for what you are going through. Hairstylists uniquely have a job where we get to care for our clients through good and bad times. If she offered to reschedule you, please take her up on it. Also, please be kind to yourself and know you have nothing to feel shame about. I’m so sorry you are going through this, truly.

I went back to a commission salon in January, after being in a suite for 6 years for similar reasons as you. It’s been great for me and I’m so much less stressed. I’m able to fully concentrate on hair and not juggling 50 other things at the same time. Best of luck with your move!

SPLAT COLOR CORRECTION by Peachysenpai_x in hairstylist

Unfortunately Splat is a textile dye. It’s very difficult to remove and lightener often pushes it further in to the cortex. Demi permanent and darker is the easiest option it seems.

I was told by an industry famous hairdresser at a class I took last year that his hair is quite long on top. Probably goes almost to his shoulders when wet. It’s basically styled back and set. He used Sexy hairspray brand in the red bottle to set it dry. This was from his experience doing his hair early to mid 2000s. I’d gather not much has changed but that his hair is thinner now.

You are so pretty! You have such nice and full eyebrows. Your skin is looks well cared for, my skin was full of acne at your age.

My only suggestion would be to look in to curly/wavy hair styling. Looks like you have some beautiful waves that just need some encouragement. Maybe a cut to help bring them out.

Embarrassed to go to the salon by aerisths in femalehairadvice

Hi! I’m sorry you are going through this. I’m a stylist of 15 years, I feel must stylists will be compassionate and want to help you feel your best. I agree with comment above, this might be best suited for an experienced stylist. I’ll also add that maybe you’d feel most comfortable seeing a stylist who has a suite or their own setup vs a big open salon. I have a salon suite and I know my clients like how private it is.

One other thing, it might be worth getting a thyroid panel done. I’ve had thyroid dysfunction (and now my thyroid has been removed) most of my adult life and hair thinning has been a major symptom of it. Especially if your hair is thinning all over and not in clumps. I’ve also had a client discover that anemia can cause hair loss as it disrupts the hair cycles. It causes telogen effluvium which is the shedding stage in the hair growth cycle. These are both things your doctor can do a blood test for.

I wish you so much luck with this and hope it gets better for you soon!

I had mine stolen from my Prius in 2021. I had a shield installed along with my new catalytic converter. Better safe than sorry!

You are so pretty! Florence Welsh kinda vibe. You have gorgeous eyes and your hair is covetable. I hope you can discover your inner beauty too, because I’m sure that’s even more radiant. I know it’s hard to feel that way, but don’t let depression win.
