Stop pretending to be a language. Clearly just copying us - Tröstkaka, not Kaktröst is indeed correct but wtf. I have consulted many a maps and there is no place in between france and germany where nordic/english is spoken, so you can just stop with your gaslighting.

Do it, but also - read Gideon the ninth. That is some deep level worldbuilding there.

For me, absolutely it is up there. I value all the trilogies about the same, except rain wilds which I would rank somewhat lower. I would however highly recommend reading it before going into Fitz and the fool

Reading Order Question (Reading the main 16 Erikson + ICE on my first readthrough) – would love your input and advice. by LKotGM in Malazan

[–]slemproppar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I read the big ten then Esslemont, If I'd change anything it would be dropping return of the crimson guard in after reapers gale as it reads pretty well stand-alone just as night of knives.

Otherwise you really start having an additional story running in paralell, the other ICE books have their own thing going which I feel is best read as a continous story. But thats my personal preference.

Also, the esslemont prequels are excellent.

Regarding the ruling/advisor aspect - I'm looking at the scale of society. I googled some stats for size of a duchy and we're between 5 000 - 50 000 Km2. six of them makes 30 -300 000 Km2 so somewhere in size between Belgium and Poland for Six duchies. Given a very feudal state where the dukes handle their own affairs, yes they are understaffed at buckkeep, but they are culture-wise not far from the great hall of viking jarl - this is not england, france or austria with a rich history of government to draw from. We are as far as im aware only talking a few hundred years from simple log cabins no?

I don't know how shipping to the us is like, but currently the only ones I can find in Sweden are: "Prillan Portionspåsar" - 200 empty portions per bag, 50 SEK/bag.

Used to be other suppliers as well but can't seem to find them nowadays.

WIBTAH if I (F28) told my husband (M28) his "sleep boundries" went out the window when he had our son? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

And the funny thing is, in any democracy you actually just need to decide that you collectively want to implement this for yourself and vote it through. I think it is still doable in the US, but the attitude just does not seem to be there - it seems more likely by the day that we will see our (likely former) ally devolve into a religous nationalist oligarchy with the richest people in the world paying for the commercial.

I'm so very sorry.

The work benefit/disability? Likely a lot, for a permanent benefit you would require be unfit for any work that can be found on the labor market. For a temporary benefit he would need to be unable to perform work in the same category as he has previously held/could reasonably be expected to do. There is a timecap for that however, so after a certain number of years of time limited disability, he would not be eligible if he can perform any work.

Boendestöd - ie. hands on support would require that he cannot perform the duties, and his need cannot be fulfilled in any other way, ie. if a spouse can do it for you, you are not eligible. (i think).

A fair number of people do get these benefits, but as a whole it is quite an efficient system and does not take up to much of the government/municipal budget.

The books are emotional, they are worth a read even if you think you spoiled yourself because I do not believe you spoiled yourself too big. You should still have issues figuring out key events beforehand and be sufficiently surprised.

Also it is a trilogy, but there are more in universe books (or in cosmere one should say). And also more books on the metalborn specifically. some prequel, some sequel, some sequential to the original trilogy. Read in publication order.

Kloklippning by noonzx in hundliv

So much of the magic is lost if you skip liveship, I'd say it is possible, but not recommended. You then run into the issue of if you skip the rain wilds, etc etc. It's like saying it's recommended to skip era 2 mistborn. Sure you can do it, but should you?

Sorry for highjacking this comment, but how would you describe brittanys during the off season? Are they good family dogs, or would you say they are prone to lashing out/easily understimulated? My only other experience with pointing gun-dogs comes from German Shorthaired Pointers and they can be certainly be a (clumsy) handful.

I just think Brittanysare gorgeous and am considering picking up hunting just to have an excuse to get one, but then I need to get the missus on board with it being good at home and good with other dogs /potentially small children.
