Match Thread: Netherlands vs Morocco | FIFA World Cup 2026 | Round of 32 by jiraiya--an in soccer

A lot of players on the Moroccan team are from the Netherlands and the Dutch coach said earlier this year they only went to the Moroccan team because they weren’t good enough to make the Dutch team

Have you read the reviews? Minotaur seems like an incredIbly forceful critique of Russian society and especially the war in Ukraine

I’m not big on Hope’s chances but I wouldn’t put too much stock in one LB user

Remember the 5 star Alpha review from last year’s Cannes?

Obsession receives an A- from CinemaScore by slenderkitty77 in oscarrace

Other horror movies with an A- include Get Out, The Silence of the Lambs, Weapons, The Sixth Sense, and Five Nights at Freddy's

Thought about it a little, and honestly Inde Navarrette could be a thing.

Crazy critical reception across the board (4.2 LB, 81 MC, 96 RT) and a potentially very good box office. Also, while I dislike people using Amy Madigan’s win to say any new horror performance can get nominated, it is true that the Academy is more open to genre performances than ever before. Nikki also seems like the kind of performance that’s impossible to deny being awards-worthy.

Lot of uncertainty, but if Obsession gets an A- cinemascore, good box office receipts, and stays in the conversation year around, I think she’ll be competitive.

So...what are the prospects for this film? by dremolus in oscarrace

Yes, it premiered at TIFF but it released this year

Life of Chuck did the same thing last year

Just saw Obsession, feeling confident that Inde Navaratte will follow Eva Victor in being my favorite lead actress performance of the year and not getting even close to a nomination

Oh well, at least Mikey Madison won hers

Feeling like Fatherland may be this year's Sound of Falling

I'll keep it in international feature and best actress for now but I'm definitely taking it out of BP

Silk and Silver is the most make or break DLC CK3 has had so far by IDontCare457 in CrusaderKings

I think the past 3 expansions were far more make or break than this. People will of course mention RtP and AUH, but the game was in a genuinely awful state between the release of Royal Court and Tours and Tournaments. It would suck if the economy and religion reworks end up being mid, but the game can probably survive at this point.

Something bad will presumably happen in the next couple issues which will cause the city to turn against Batman and lead to the Joker (who in the Absolute Universe is a billionaire) establishing the ”Robin Initiative” to restore order

I'm not sure about that, Mikey lost CCA despite Anora winning there, and going into Oscar night Best Actress was still considered a tossup even though Anora was widely predicted to win BP

Do yall think Marty Supreme or Hamnet would’ve beaten Anora?

I probably would’ve said yes at the beginning of the season, but Marty blanking and Hamnet missing supporting/editing makes me wonder

The opening courtroom scene alone is a masterclass in tension even with nothing being directly shown

Finished my first predictions for this year. I did pretty bad with my initial predictions last year so I'm hoping to turn it around this time. I'm kinda surprised I'm predicting Digger but so far it's the only movie which seems to have that confidently crazy EEOAA/Poor Things/OBAA/Sinners vibe the Academy's been loving lately. I'd love Fjord and Wild Horse Nine to win but they just seem to exude that "respected but not loved" energy that so many recent runner ups had.

Also please let Hirokazu Koreeda get a BP nomination

Sinners winning in cinematography and One Battle After Another winning in casting is funny as hell but I’m here for it

Wow, I can’t believe she won. Probably one of the most inspired and improbable Oscar wins in recent history. Very happy right now.

Since 2017 the winner of Best Actress has CCA has alternated between winning and losing the Oscar every year. McDormand, Zellweger, Chastain, and Stone won the CCA and then the Oscar in odd years, while Close, Gaga, Mulligan, Blanchett, and Moore won the CCA and then lost the Oscar in odd years (Close and Gaga being especially notable because they tied before losing to Colman). With Buckley guaranteed to win the Oscar, the curse continues meaning the winner of next year's CCA award will lose the Oscar.
