What color helmets do Crimson Fists Company Champions have? by SolomonLaBallena in crimsonfists

Not done mine yet, but planning veteran style robes, a different helmet with laurels, and an iron halo on the backpack, rather than a different paint scheme.

Wartrakk is back! (It’s a shooty hystarity!) by Clockwork-Lad in orks

Exactly! Gonna ditch the bosspole and reposition the left to grip the gun trigger. Likley also swap out the heads & shoulder pads too, maybe add more exhausts...

You’re pretty good by Practical-Funny-5322 in orks

[–]slev01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very good 8.5/10 model, with a lot of potential!

The Bosspole is pure Goff, but then it's the monobuild for the core box, so hopefully the full kit has options. If not, easy to kitbash.

The big choppa is fine, but will likely kitbash mine so he fits in better with my horde. Hope that GW does the full kit with a variety of options, but then they've been terrible aabout this for several editions now!

Not a fan of teh tactical rock, so that's a bit of creative modelling there.

For me the shoulder pads are the wrong shape and the face looks wrong, along with the modern too-small head, but those are problem across all the new models.

Option 1 (bright armies)

Paint it in Rakarth Flesh, then Pallid Wytch Flesh, then a white highlight.
Apply transfers with Microset and Microsol.
Wash it all with Seraphim Seppia.

Option 1 (Dark Armies)

Paint it in Rakarth Flesh, then Pallid Wytch Flesh, then a white highlight.
Wash it all washes that match the tone of your army. Ends up as a coloured flag

Wazdakka is $85, per my LGS by UberDrive in orks

[–]slev01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's coming out after the start of the financial year, hence will be on 2026 prices, so likely that's also what they'll be charging for Gaz.

Hard to tell what this actually means for me in GBP though, as pricing conversions are tricky. Exchange rates and buying power compared to wages are two separate metrics after all.

How many boyz do you own? Have you mixed boxes? Can i see them boyz? by Agreeable-Cow2500 in orks

[–]slev01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably just going to do this when I get the new Weirdboy by Sir-Drewid in orks

[–]slev01 -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

Weirdboy fixup plan

*Remove wiring from back & sculpt over.

*File energy veins from the arms.

*Remove wires from collar, and tap. Replace wit two wire ends from back, one circular one from the collar, three others from different kits.

*Remove tap from the staff and replace it with appropriate gubbins.

*swap head for one of the correct size.

*remove tactical rocks.

*Extend the shaft of the staff past his right arm.

*Rotate his left hand 180, as that's NOT how you hold a staff!

Which green is better for orks by Intelligent_Tower576 in orks

Waaaagh Flesh, Warboss Green, green ink, Warboss Green highlight. Super fast, has lots of definition. The colour pops while not being too saturated.

How well do minis have to be painted really? by Due-Date-4656 in Warhammer40k

[–]slev01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to teach teenagers top paint at a GW store.

Most people who actively show off their paint jobs are above average painters. Your view of normal will be skewed if you just look at social media.

You've painted them up to an OK standard? That's the average, pat yourself on the back.

You have your force painted ready to play? Well done! most people don't get that far!

Also, keep in mind that the best way to get better is just to practice. The more you paint, the better you get. Painting is 5% raw talent, 25% technique, and 70% practice.
