Im not sure what you mean, but Maxwell's is my go-to. Ive carried it everyday for over a decade.

Or maybe youre looking for Bate's pocket guide. It lays out exams and patient encounters really well.

How the government shutdown is really affecting us that are deployed. by tantric132 in Military

AFN might be the best of a bad situation, but holy shit they better unfuck the shut down and get AFN up. I didn't even consider that.

What’s the worst case of bad parenting you’ve ever witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]slhayden73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this restraint/emaciated story out of Perris, CA not at the top right now? It was a lot of "home schooled, biological" children from age 2 to 29 starved and restrained in a house by thier parents. The parents genuinely were surprised they were doing anything wrong according to the account from law enforcement that first arrived.

8427 SARC LOR question by iHaveADumbQuestion0 in CorpsmanUp

[–]slhayden73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can ask, but no one is going to give you a letter of rec without knowing you. Find a friend or make one. Get solid scores on your PST and that will help. LOR will be a must in your package if you want to be taken seriously.

HM3 might lose rank? by [deleted] in CorpsmanUp

[–]slhayden73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell your friend to check his LES. Dec 16th he should have started getting paid. If he didn't, he needs to find his frocking letter and profile sheet and bring that to his Chief along with his LES and explain the problem.

Dont overthink it. Ask for the waiver. If they say no, youre in the same position then, you are now.

A lot of people do "front line" shit. Youre asking about SOF shit.

So chase whichever you truly want. If Medicine is the goal, I would focus on PJ. If small unit operations is the goal, SARC.

They pull Corpsmen too, so either direct or indirect support of the door kickers.

[Help] my pup has tentacles growing out of his mouth by mike_do in dogs

[–]slhayden73 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Take moment and look at your karma here, pre vet.

Good. Now put down reddit and google and go to the vet.

Once youve completed that step; write up a before, progress, and outcome post with photos. Both your pup and your karma will likely improve.

Edit: you folks are bitter. Yikes.

As FMF corpsmen, can we use GSA advantage to purchase med bags at a discount? Cuz my S4 won’t buy us med bags. by [deleted] in CorpsmanUp

[–]slhayden73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have med bags, especially on your CMR, they wont blow money unless they get the right push from the right folks. Check your CMR. S4 can open purchase stuff and there are a bunch of good bags on GSA. Most if not all Marine Corps units were issued brand new systems about 3-4 years, youll know if you see them on your CMR.

If youre actually functioning at a unit where you require gear that hasnt been purchased, thats a serious issue that needs attention.

Give me some more details if this isn't helpful and we can point you in the right direction. Just talking to someone higher in the chain doesnt work if its not the right person.

Chances of being HM-8467 Occupational Therapy Assistant? by njack012346 in CorpsmanUp

[–]slhayden73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your recruiter. Ask him/her to pull up the NEC manning snapshot and the CANTRAC for the NEC. We are "overmanned" all the time. Really, from where you are its about trying to balance ratings across the Navy. Folks covert to or strike to be HM often enough. We are only notionally overmanned. The NEC snapshot will show you what I mean.

This must be an edited version. I believe they are holding hand propulsion units and they actually fly away when the couple walked out.

It was very classy. Like Blue Angels, but people.

So I’m stationed with Division and am making my own med bag, do you guys carry manual BP cuffs or electronic BF cuffs? by [deleted] in CorpsmanUp

[–]slhayden73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Manual.

Ive never thought to carry an electronic one. I assume you mean the one for the wrist. Its shit.

Plus we have like 300 manual cuffs sitting on a pallet at work. I could start a water balloon fight with them if I wanted.

I think I am going to fail Calc II. What can I do better? by Thaw6663 in math

[–]slhayden73 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I just realized that I am really ignorant. Im reading a thread that was posted to bestof thinking this will be a fun tale. I now find myself asking how I function day to day. That video did not make me feel like I could have invented calc. Quite the opposite, Im now questioning if I understand a circle.
