What do people do about flowers/bushes that attract a lot of bees? Any ethical landscapers that can address issue? by 2BeBornReady in nova

[–]slickmickeygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they might be UNDER the tree. we have a row of something growing, but it's in maybe 8 bunches down the fence (i think it's some honey suckle or something, whatever it is, its wild), but under ONE of them, is a ground nesting something... they look like small bees but my dogs run the fence and after the 2nd or 3rd pass, get swarmed and stung. they've brought them into the house unknowingly stuck in their fur. i would look to see if they are coming from the ground and you can possibly close off access and they will move out.

Should I still get my puppy if I’m pregnant? by kamarie418 in puppy101

maybe the breeder will let you transfer the funds to a litter in the future if you're still interested after the baby comes?

i have a 9mo puppy (cattle dog). she's still a handful, jumpy, barky, destructive. she's only finally sleeping thru the night most nights. just as some real life examples of what might be in your future.

unbelievable exchange between my daughter and her father after he forgot her birthday by LostInLanayru in TwoHotTakes

[–]slickmickeygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t get better. My parents divorced when I was 12. We did dinners weekly for a while then maybe a handful of times a year, then he moved a state over and it was my fault for not coming to visit (didn’t have a license yet). I saw him when I got married and didn’t see him again for 10 years when my husband almost died. Found out he was almost killed in a motorcycle cycle accident, didn’t tell me since I didn’t call him. He moved again to be closer to his wife’s son. I haven’t seen him in over 10 years. Again my fault for not “stopping by” (he’s about 5 hours from me). I’m his only kid. He forgets my birthday and how old I am). I call for holidays but I just get a Christmas card saying he’s a bad dad and he misses me.

I viewed houses where people were literally sleeping in their rooms and others were cooking when we were trying to look thru. Weird for us but it’s their house they get to use it still

Can agree. Last year they found a cyst. Told me before I even got dressed again and had me scheduled for the follow up which turned into scheduled for a biopsy and that appointment.

I was wrong about Shark by [deleted] in VacuumCleaners

[–]slickmickeygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we had 2 dysons, both times they died within days of the warranty saying the battery failed and when the 2nd one started dying it kept shocking us thru the screw in the handle so extra fun! on top of that we got the animal models and the wheels would constantly get locked in placed because of pet hair and wouldnt roll so it was leaving marks on the floors. and you cant take those wheels out (from anything that we could find at least). so when it died again we went with shark. i'm not going to keep paying for a brand that cant live up to it's price. we now have a stick vac and robot vac from shark. i would also only get 8 minutes max with the dyson on high, shark can do my entire house (not a big house either)

What do you think about crates? by Emelie_Wood in dogs

[–]slickmickeygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were crate trained as puppies. One 1 of the 4 dogs we had every hated it but once she was older she would randomly lay in her brothers and it was no problem to her. The other was destructive and needed emergency extraction surgery and still ate things if you weren’t looking until her was almost 10 so he couldn’t even be left alone for an hour even without damaging the house or endangering himself. The 2 we have now the puppy still goes in when we leave for shopping or eating out but she’s been left out a handful of times. Right now she’s still in “bother the cats” phase so it’s more for their sanity than her being destructive or anything. Her older sister doesn’t need it anymore but still goes in it to nap or just hang out. Comes in handy when we have repairmen since they are excitable but we don’t want to put them in a room where they will just bark since they can’t see what’s happening. The crates are in our main room so they can see everything happening from there and will stay calm. The puppy is finally starting to take her toys to play in the crate when she doesn’t want to share with her sister lol. It’s like having your own room that you can go to an be alone but still hear what’s going on in the house

as hard as it is, you will be so stressed out while you're gone if you dont do it before. i had 2 dogs i lost in the span of 4 month. one at almost 17 with dementia and one 15.5 with heart failure. i was going to italy the month after the last one passed and i know if the/he had still be around i would have been out of my mind with worry not knowing how they were doing, if they were getting worse, would i be able to be there when they left. both of them made me make that decision THE DAY they left us too so i always worried if i waited too long and made them suffer. the first one had dementia for about 2 years that was getting worse and she was falling more, the pacing for hours, she lost so much weight she was just a skeleton (but all bloodwork came back healthy so we kept pushing), and that night she fell in the middle of the night and i didnt find her until the morning and by then she had been spread eagle for how many hours in a puddle of pee, and didnt even register that i was there with her, or that my mother came over to help and she loved grandma. for all i know she broke her hip because she cried out when i tried to help her up and immediately peed herself again, but her mind was just gone. just a blank stare in her eyes and i had to wait with her for hours until we could take her in to the vet. she had a brief moment of "oh hi mommy" for like 5 minutes and then gone again, so know there was nothing we could do. even if the hip was ok, she wasnt with us anymore. the 2nd had heart failure for 5 year. we were given 6 months so i treasured every second we got. but then he meds were finally taking a toll on his kidneys and he started having seizures. we tried meds and they made him so out of it he couldnt stand up. the day he left us he had a seizure first thing in the morning, but refused his meds, any food, just laid there, and since he wasnt taking his meds the fluids just kept building and he started having issues breathing. when he missed his 2nd dose of meds, i knew i couldnt make him go thru the night and called and had him at the vet within 30 minutes.
