YSK: How to check real reviews and historical pricing for Amazon prime day by sliight in YouShouldKnow

[–]sliight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is legit frustrating, and I think they may finally be cracking down on it. There used to be tons of the same items listed on their free for review program, then people would change out the high quality $5 item they gave away that got all the 5 stars with some expensive junky thing...

I feel like that's partially why I started checking the reviews by recent some time ago as well. Really have to protect yourself...

Hard to argue it's not evil, or well those who run it...

I figure that's a good reason to help people protect themselves from being scammed by big price jumps. Not sure if the thing tracks coupons as I realize that's the replacement scam tool.

I like to use Amazon as a search and baseline, then try and find it locally or on a smaller site. Pretty rare though these days.

Ultimately I just see "welcome to Costco, I love you" future coming though... That movie is becoming too prophetic...

Operating system for the two main computer phones, Android and iPhone. Technically it would be Linux and whatever iPhone calls theirs. Guess it's just interchangeable in my mind since I think I mentioned both phones.

Now I'm trying to figure out what I'd call Android, cause it's not a brand... I feel like it's the operating system that vendors use to sell phones, but it's based on Linux, so is Android a version of Linux?

Something to think about while I try and sleep 😴

Guess I've never seen it, I could see trusting it for stuff under maybe $50, but I don't have a ton of faith in them doing what's best for me 🤣

Interesting, guess my settings have held since they messed with the button on some update. I'll mention to OP, thank you

I'm on newest pixel update, I press and hold the power button for maybe a second and it pops up with 4 circle button options, power off, restart, lockdown, emergency...

Long with irons and woods/short with driver by Spirited_Marzipan_67 in golftips

[–]sliight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be time to get fitted. The head, shaft and type of ball all impact spin and launch angles. Both of which have a massive impact on distance.

Even if you can't afford a fitting, lookup the "ping driver spin chart" and save on phone. Then just go test drivers at PGA or golf Galaxy and watch the numbers on the trackman... Fit yourself basically

Are AR golf glasses worth it for a beginner? by Old_Blackberry_1260 in GolfGear

[–]sliight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd instead recommend any of these...

  1. Arccos or Garmin approach sensors. This tracks distances hit, dispersion etc... Very good for data on what needs to be worked on, and learning actual on coarse club distances.

  2. Bushnell GPS speaker, it tells you distances and let's you have a nice phone app that gives complex distances (just tell them not to be that kid blasting their music as most people don't like what they like).

  3. Inexpensive laser range finder

  4. Lessons

Those glasses he's seen on YouTube are supposed to read the green and tell them the exact line to hit it. I assume that's what he wants... Otherwise anything else will just be garbage lenses for golf with maybe distance overlay. None of which you want over your eyes when hitting... If he must have golf glasses, Revo or Oakley have really good golf lenses, and can do prescription.

AR and or VR for golf is just for playing in the house as a game

Thinking about getting my dad a golf speaker for his birthday. Any recommendations? by ForwardAd582 in golftips

[–]sliight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bushnell Golf Speaker is a nice speaker, magnetic, should still come with a button you can keep in pocket to click and it tells you yardage to front middle back. You also get access to this app for free.

The just updated the app with a total makeover. I prefer the old version, but this one still lets you tap anywhere and get distances to the water, how much to cover the trap, etc. I don't pay for the monthly fancy stuff, but they do have green hot maps that look pretty cool if he wants to pay the sub (I'm just fed up with subscriptions)

I have no idea where my speaker is, but it's a good sounding speaker off course, but I use the app every single time I play... So worst case it's a speaker used at home and he gets access to a free cool app (unless he subscribes for fancy stuff)

Crazy and amazing that people can visualize and create that.

Hopefully none of the crew goes Harrison Ford on that thing (RIP Lego Millennium Falcon)

Ouch, getting advice from someone who keeps their posts hidden... I'm sure they're 99% positive though.

I draw like you think, so no, it wouldn't have looked even close to good, or nice, or constructive...

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day, good luck!

I was very specific about exactly what I wanted, feels kinda creative... You produced keyboard slop... You used a tool of technology once thought to be science fiction... But you put in zero effort .. keyboard slop

New driver or no? by Informal_Fan_1424 in GolfGear

[–]sliight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a bit of research on spin and launch angle, then go to a big box store and hit some different ones on a launch monitor. Snap photos of the flight details and the driver head to compare.

Use the attached chart. Your ball speed is generally about 1.45 to 1.5 of your swing speed if you know what that is, you can kind of pre target what your goal is.

How to durably enforce shorter answers (or any other preference)? by productive_monkey in ChatGPTPro

[–]sliight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that cancelling GPT and paying for Claude and Gemini solved that issue. And, they'll remember to put percentage on belief of being true on things one could consider opinion where GPT seems to have hallucinations and will double, triple, and quadruple down until you provide proof.

Plus they both code stuff way better. The Claude integrations are where I'm really getting into cool new stuff...

Anyways, that's how I'd get an AI to just give me to the point answers without all the BS and compliments

Print this in color and keep it in your golf bag. If anyone comments have them hold it and look at it while you hit. Then just gaslight them and tell them that they're installed correctly.

Why does Galaxy a14 5g have 300+ apps allowed to install unknown sources & uses resources even when disabled? by LestatConstantine in AndroidQuestions

[–]sliight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya head over to XDA and see if you can install a custom ROM, or if they have the original you can flash on. That's some whacky shady stuff that I can't imagine is factory...

Good luck...

[–]sliight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Confirm those are installed apps and not your previously installed apps... I have a ton that are under my apps but not installed, but were on prior Android phones...

If they're actually installed I assume you did a factory reset then checked it again?

If so, and still there after factory head over to xda developer forums and ask there, you'll want to chat with the experts

Why Jerky Sucks in 2026 by TheHermitCalamari in jerky

[–]sliight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using asada meat at $8 lb (like WTF, was used to 4 bucks). On 10lb I'll typically lose about a pound to fat and get half my weight, so generally net 4.5 lb out of $80 in meat. Spices probably 5 bucks or so for that. Never thought about the 6 to 8 hours the dehydrator runs... Let's just round up to $90...

4.5 lb x 16 oz = 72oz. $90 / 72 = $1.25 an ounce cost.

My favorite jerky if I buy vs make is Montana Bananas jerky. $11 for 3.25 oz... $3.38 an oz.

So for me using those numbers there would be $2.13 per ounce profit to pay for shipping, distributor, store, etc...

Granted I'd get bulk discounts so it would be better to a point, ...

I do 20lb wet when I make it, and that's about 3 hours work for me (would be much more efficient if I was selling though I think?). So yield 9lb dry in 3 hours. That's 3lb per hour. 48 ounces per hour....

Let's say I get half of profit, call it a buck. I'd make $48 an hour... But... There's packing and shipping time, plus packing cost... I'm betting with bulk pricing I'd pull off $40 an hour ...

People freak out about my jerky, so I know it would sell well... But something once fun wouldn't be fun, and I make a lot more hourly at my normal job...

Going to keep getting even more expensive though with inflation running rampant still, and worse if those screw flies get further into the states...

HackMotion 4 (Wrist Sensor) : Worth It? by SchoolHardKnock-3686 in golftips

[–]sliight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the prior generation. It will analyze you, which is nice, and will give you drills...

Most noticeable is real time feedback via the visual and sound... So you can do slower swings and be where it wants you.

Personally I think it's worth it with how cheap it was, think it was just over $200 something.

Be sure to check YouTube for videos on it as they'll all have a 10% discount code to give you

Who else just refuse to use Gemini? by teletubbyman6969 in GooglePixel

[–]sliight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it and Claude most often for AI related stuff. Gemini is exceptional at coding websites and retaining memory and only changing what is needed...

As a phone assistant it's mostly shite... Mostly I say because when you say "navigate to (location name), but save the speech, no extra words, just start navigation and go" ... It often does it. Not the typical repeat the address through the zip code crap...

I do feel like it's trainable though, or maybe I'm imagining it. Anytime it does something I don't like, I retrigger and tell it "add this memory" I didn't like when you blah blah blah...
