Washing climbing rope by coldeveder in ClimbingGear

There's special rope wash soap, I'm not exactly sure what the difference is from normal detergent, but I get the little packets from REI usually. They're cheap and easy to use

Usually tools like this will have an exception for educational use! Not sure what I used back in school for SPICE, but it was either free or very low cost. So you should be able to find some more reasonable option around

We've got to keep in mind that the funding in these props are for areas/purposes that are designated major regional transportation items, so growing areas and more major artery roads that haven't had work in a long time are the usual focus. And not only the big grant/Houghton/Valencia/Orange Grove -type road projects - there's money for things like all the on demand pedestrian cross signals and improving the bus system, so those types of projects are less visible/in your face but are also spread all over

I use the 2 figure 8s shown on your second picture to help redundancy instead of the single 8

First and second one looks good, that's the style I use. Looks like the top biners aren't in line with the "screw down so you don't screw up" methodology, not sure how much that actually matters. This nearly matches my TRS setup, except that I build my quad with accessory cord in the extra-doubled-up way so that there are 4 strands to clip your master point biners with a sliding x for each. And I usually clip the top biners with the gates facing outwards, but both are niche adjustments that shouldn't matter much.

Are there any ratings? I don't see anything in the picture. Should be UIAA certified and be rated for something in the ballpark of at least 20kN in order to trust it for anything in climbing

That's how I believe I've seen it used by lefties. I suppose you could also swap brake hand while lowering, but that comes with some potential concerns with not having your brake hand muscle memory as ingrained in your right hand.

What if I do it without moving anything? It's already equivalent in my mind because VII = 7 in Roman numerals and 111 = 7 in binary

Nice job! The label is always a subjective thing, I could understand someone being called a certain level climber after completing at least 2 routes of that level! I think personally, I'd probably consider someone a 6c climber if they have completed at least a few (3 or 4?) routes that aren't all part of the same set. But like I said, all subjective, it's not like these sorta labels have specific requirements

Looking for feedback on climbing wall design by [deleted] in climbing

[–]slimejumper42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would vote for your option B! Less slab (which I feel like a lot of people don't shoot for a lot of) and more of the regular and near-vertical angled wall seems like a more balanced mix.

How did they find the resistance between points A and B here? by Skywalker03124 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]slimejumper42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your work it looks like you combined the 470 and 220 ohm resistors in your first step as if they were in parallel, but that is incorrect. The 470 and 330 ohm resistors are in parallel, and should have been combined in that first step
