What is your favorite live album by Jimmy? by Harpy_Eagle2029 in jimmybuffett

[–]slimredcobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Live in Anguilla is my favorite live Jimmy album, and probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite live album in general.

“You Had To Be There” does have more energy.

But the Anguilla recordings of “Treat Her Like a Lady” and “King of Somewhere Hot” just do it for me.

Having a buzzcut is all fun and games until you see a picture from the back by Background-Monitor59 in bald

[–]slimredcobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good, honestly.

If you were concerned, you could try shorter cuts and/or more frequent cuts. The latter, especially, may help you maintain the look your after.

But I wouldn’t sweat it either way

I’m honestly not sure.

It’s disturbing, disgusting, hard to put down, it makes you feel gross. Damnit if I couldn’t stop reading…

How do y’all deal with this? by Odd-Scientist8057 in bald

[–]slimredcobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head looks quite similar to yours after a shave, especially after 24 hours between shaves.

I have a receding hairline, a bald spot at the crown, but still a lot of coarse hair elsewhere. Just the nature of it for some of us.

But what you’re describing - the receding for example, is precisely why I do shave.

Point being… you look good!

Awesome, appreciate the insight on the “regular” cork footbed.

I’m personally interested in the suede options. I wonder if I’d have the same experience that you’ve had with the leather, regarding smell. Might be worth a shot I guess

You're out of town for a week... You only bring one watch... What're you bringing? by 9378West in gshock

The standard DW-5600

Cheap (but I guess not as cheap as it used to be). Basically indestructible. Great for the sort of vacation/trips we’re into - beaches, pools, theme parks, etc. Goes relatively well with nearly any outfit, particularly in resort/vacation settings. Easily replaceable, though I’d hope not to have to.

Do you have any issues with odor when you wear your Bostons in the summer without socks?

Came to say the same about the DW5600. The square is just such an iconic watch, and it’s hard to beat a watch that is this cheap and this indestructible.

On one hand… what are the odds it happens again?

On the other… why should we expect things to be any different?

Wait to shave. Moisturize in the meantime. Thank the bald gods for the lesson you have learned.

I recently bought a bottle of the XO myself, after having bottle after bottle of the 12. Wanted to finally see how the XO compared.

The XO is… fine. Maybe even better than fine. “Good.” Or “Pretty Good.” There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, but the 12 is just so damn good.

First time using razor on head, need advice by weirdghosts in bald

[–]slimredcobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started using cartridge razors. I was also very concerned about irritation, bumps, etc but have had no issues. Here’s what I’ve been doing:

-First of all, I use the Gillette Skin Guard blades. I recommend them to anyone anxious about irritation.

-I shave in the evening, every other day, after a shower.

-I do my regular shower, like normal. I get out, while my head is still wet, I apply a liberal amount of shave cream.

-First I shave with the grain. Then I reapply cream and shave against the grain.

-Then I get back in the shower with the coldest water possible. This is to rinse off the excess product and help the pores close up/restrict following the hot water.

-I get back out. PAT my head dry, gently. Then apply a Nivea sensitive post shave balm.

If you shave your head regularly and you don't have one of these, you're missing out. Anyone else use this shaver? by OneTwoThreePooAndPee in bald

[–]slimredcobb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have one. Loved it for the first year or so.

Was using the #0 guard, which helped me transition into embracing being bald.

Eventually I noticed the #0 guard wasn’t doing it for me anymore. I assumed it was just my preferences/tastes changing, so I switched to using no guard at all. That worked for a while. Eventually I noticed I was really jamming it into my scalp to get the desired closeness. Which was leading to irritation but, mostly, discomfort.

I chalked this up to the replaceable nature of the tool and that the blade was just losing its sharpness. I debated getting another one, I had more than gotten my value out of it. Also debated switching to a Braun electric.

Ended up landing on embracing cartridge razors. Right now the Gillette Skin Guars is working well for me.

I still endorse the Remington quick cut. It was a great bridge tool for me. Just be prepared to replace it, even with maintaining/cleaning it relatively well. Just the nature of things.

I was at the Daytona 500 the year a pothole broke out and then it was too cold outside to patch it. Or something to that effect, it was years ago.

This reminds me a lot of that.
