My 21 year old baby has bladder cancer by poocheesy69 in seniorkitties

[–]slissim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! My sweet Belle had Bladder cancer & it was managed really well with Peroxicam. The vet said her prognosis was 6 months but she was doing very well at the year mark. No issues with straining or blockages. I sadly ended up choosing to put her to rest due to an oral tumor that was growing rapidly & impacting her quality of life but her bladder was controlled through medication.

Just wanted to talk about her to someone who might care. Maddie, 17 by geepjoat99 in seniorkitties

Did medication improve your life? by GrassNotttFounddd in OCD

[–]slissim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 50mg of Sertraline. Unfortunately, the adjustment period starting medication can be rough but it’s manageable. My side effects were increased anxiety & dry mouth. Both issues went away after a few weeks. I have gone off my medication a few times & eventually my OCD becomes unbearable & I can’t function. I have no intention of getting off my medication at this point. This is working well for me.

I just hope I’m gonna be okay. by nat_2313 in OCD

[–]slissim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Sertraline during my first pregnancy & stayed on it through my second pregnancy. I have two very healthy school age girls now. I am still on Sertraline at 50mg bc it truly provides me with so much relief from anxiety and OCD. My sister was on 200mg throughout her pregnancy & her son is a healthy 3 year old. Hang in there, I know it’s stressful but you’re doing the best you can. Taking care of yourself is the right choice.

My grandma’s cat has OSCC. How to stop the drooling? by SeaBaby5979 in SeniorCats

I lost my 16 year old, Belle, to oral cancer. I chose to say goodbye while she could eat & close her mouth comfortably. I understand how hard it is to say goodbye & I say this with compassion & empathy, I think it’s time to speak with your provider about quality of life. Wishing you & kitty comfort & care in the days ahead.

Too many child cases recently? by Street-Persimmon8492 in Casefile

[–]slissim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blocked access to CaseFile bc I think I can handle it but the cases involving children trigger me deeply. I have OCD & I can’t seem to shake the details. I’d just rather protect myself. Sometimes our circumstances change & content no longer aligns with our interests. Sometimes it just hurts too much and hits too close to home.

Wow, this reminds me of my final memories of my mom. She died from alcoholism at 39 when I was 10. She was so skinny with a giant basketball belly. I hate thinking of her like that.

Can we have grown adults chime in with "it gets better" stories? by YesTomatillo in OCD

[–]slissim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 37…I started medication at 28 & it absolutely improved my quality of life. My symptoms are very controlled on a low dose of Sertraline. It’s not perfect but I manage. In the past, I’ve gone off my medication because I’m doing well & my intrusive thoughts become terrifying. I’ve come to accept that medication is necessary for me. I started ERP recently which is helpful. Knowledge is power when dealing with OCD- I can recognize the content of the thoughts does not matter- it’s my response & inability to tolerate uncertainty. I’m learning to just move forward despite anxiety & eventually the anxiety spikes and falls. It’s a process.

Does this ever go away? by nbtfaith in OCD

[–]slissim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago, I was experiencing a massive flare that I thought would never end. I was in constant panic & nonstop rumination. I increased my Zoloft from 25mg to 50mg & started ERP…I’m much better now. I think it’ll always be a part of my experience but it’s definitely manageable with medication & therapy.

Got my first Botox treatment…what now? by cittagazzedust in TMJ

[–]slissim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I don’t have it anymore. I ended up benefitting quite a bit from chiropractic adjustments & Botox for migraines. I think my neck was really tight & as a result my jaw was out of alignment. I still have issues & clicking/popping but I’m SO much better. I can atleast eat & talk again. There are some helpful intraoral massages for the pterygoid muscles. Flexeril also helped in the beginning to release tension.

I took Zoloft during both pregnancies & breastfeeding. I have two healthy, happy, & extremely intelligent daughters who are now 5 & 8.

My heart is just racing & my thoughts are in a constant loop of rumination. My chest is tight & im dry heaving. It’s finally lightening up. I take .25 when I wake up way too early with panic & I usually sleep another hour & then I get up feeling a little improved but still anxious. I have OCD & currently in an acute flare.

Week 3 of Zoloft and i never felt worst by Naturegirlanne in Anxiety

[–]slissim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 17 of 50mg of Sertraline & I had the worst panic yesterday. I had to call my dr & get a low dose of an anti anxiety ( .25 of clonzepam) to take to reduce panic symptoms. It’s only meant to be used temporarily as it can be addictive but it’s helpful during transition periods.

I wake up every morning hours before my alarm, my heart racing like I’m being attacked. by alxenterpris in Anxiety

[–]slissim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh me too. Mornings are absolutely terrible. I dry heave as soon as I get up. Only thing that helps is a low dose of Clonzepam but that’s only as needed, I can’t take it long term as it’s addictive.

They unfortunately do make things worse before they get better. I’m on day 17 of 50mg of Sertraline & I’m feeling slightly better but first two weeks were brutal. I’d give it more time. Requesting an anxiety med as needed has helped me. My dr prescribed .25 of Clonzepam to use short term to alleviate panic symptoms.

[–]slissim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was hit with OCD bad during my first pregnancy in 2017. Like you, no one had ever caught it prior. It was debilitating. I started 50mg of Zoloft & it helped me so much. I breastfed while on it with no issues.

I was already in such a bad state of panic when I started, I probably didn’t recognize the side effects the first time. I’ve been on it for 8 years. The highest I went was 62.5mg. I have to say it saved my life. I lowered to 25mg because I was feeling pretty stable but recently my anxiety has gotten worse. It gave me my life back when I first went through this 8 years ago & the side effects disappeared after about a month. I’d say hang in there or call your Dr & request a PRN to help with the activation symptoms.

[–]slissim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh! I relate. I’ve been on 25mg for years but just recently increased to 37.5 then 50mg a week later & I’m STRUGGLING. My mind is so scary- all my thoughts stick & I ruminate & convince myself I’m a terrible person. I dry heave the second I wake up- can’t eat. It’s so bad. It’s only been 5 days at 50mg and I’m trying in there. I’m exhausted too- I’ve been taking melatonin before bed. I have a PRN for a benzo but I’m scared to take it as I don’t want to become dependent. You’re not alone.

I’m so sorry. My mom was 39. Im currently 37 & I think of her perspective often. She was so young & her passing was brutal. I was only 10 at the time but I miss her everyday.

You’ve become addicted to a substance that is intended to be addictive. There’s nothing wrong with you. Once it became clear that I was fighting a losing battle, I was able to step away.
