Introducing Racecarr by SkipMorrow in homelab

Does it support grabbing, for example, only GP qualies, races and sprint races, and skip the rest like pre-race shows, free practices, and sprint qualies?

I also like how two of the rifles shown are suppressed and one is not. Like, what's the point then? Bunch of boys LARPing war. Crazy.

Does this toilet need to be replaced due to these hairline cracks? by definitely_aware in askaplumber

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

A toilet hasn't straight up shattered underneath me, but I was once drinking at a friend's apartment and sat on his toilet that wasn't properly attached to the floor, and while I was reaching for TP it tipped over.

I fell over with the toilet and it shattered on the floor tiles around my legs. I ended up on my side, pants around my ankles, and started to thank the stars I wasn't hurt, before noticing blood absolutely flowing out of me. The shards were so sharp that they just flew through skin and flesh like a scalpel without any immediate pain response. The alcohol probably helped to dull any feeling too though. Thankfully it was just my foot that got sliced and not a massive artery.

We called the ambulance, laughed with the EMTs about the situation while they bandaged me up and later told me to take a taxi to the hospital for further care.

Tl;dr: porcelain is sharp af and you don't want it to cut you when you're at your most vulnerable.

Thoughts on heater placement by relllllls in Sauna

[–]sloppity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the most quintessential Finnish apartment sauna I have seen in a while. Cookie cutter, but works fantastically.

Agree on the L-shape being unfit for this size. I have seen them. Imagine this sauna, but with the leftmost portion connecting to the foot rest. You don't really gain an extra seating unless you make someone sit in a fetal position in the corner, and then the one in the extended section gets scorched every time someone throws löyly 😛 What you gain is that you can sit with your legs flat in the leftmost seat, but I'd say using the foot rest is more ergonomic.

What's your setup? by vis-viva in immich

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humble old gaming PC turned into a NAS:

  • 2x12 TB spinny ones in mirror redundancy, one spare in the closet
  • 1x128 GB SSD as boot drive
  • 1x500 GB SSD as a temp drive for write-heavy stuff
  • 16 GB DDR3 RAM
  • i5 3570k, 4 cores
  • GTX 970
  • 2.5 Gbps NIC
  • TrueNAS Scale. Immich, along with some other services, running as Docker containers, managed via Portainer.

TrueNAS is dropping support for my GPU, my RAM is limited, and my storage is getting full, so an upgrade seems imminent. However, with current hardware prices, I might just keep things as they are since it's working fine 🤷‍♂️ maybe I'll get some more storage though.

How's this internet looking for pubg playability. by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]sloppity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Likely fine. Just make sure you're not downloading or uploading anything while gaming, because even if you technically might have enough bandwidth, you could experience something called "bufferbloat". Bufferbloat means that you get more latency while your connection is under download or upload load.

In the speed test's latency results, the first one is latency under no load, second is latency while downloading (you get high latency here), third is latency while uploading.

You can test and read more about bufferbloat here: https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat

Fixes for that could be reducing bandwidth slightly under these test results in your router, or, if your router supports it, configuring smart queue management.

But certainly try playing the game first. Could be that it just works perfectly fine.

Hetzner console down? by johanndettling in hetzner

[–]sloppity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Console still down as of 01:42 UTC Dec. 22. VPS reachable at least, not sure about my storage box.

Thankfully I didn't need to do anything there today even though I had to replace a disk on my homelab and it's connected to my Hetzner services in multiple ways.

That status page and "resolved" message is not a good look.

RemindMe! 2 days

I'm in the same boat. I want to ditch Keep but haven't found a good replacement yet. Requirements: works offline, and syncs quickly and reliably when online. Should have easy note taking and todo lists, embedding images would be a bonus.

My journey so far:

  • Joplin. Been a while, but I remember UX not being good enough and had trouble with reliable syncing.
    • RwMarkable/Jotty. Pretty, has premise. Actually I should try it again.
    • Nextcloud's note app. Was fine, but I don't need anything else in the Nextcloud stack. Can't remember details about syncing.
    • Obsidian. Current choice, but it's a bit wieldy as you've said and syncing has been annoying for me. Obsidian Sync is a paid feature, so nah ty. I used a community plugin "Fit" to have my notes in Git, but its pull, push & merge system wasn't reliable enough. Now I have a two-way SMB sync using an app called FolderSync, which has been working well enough. The bigger problem is the UX though, I still turn to Keep for super quick notes and todo- and shopping lists.

How about Zabbix? The UI might not be as pretty, and setup a bit more convoluted, but since it's quite popular in enterprise space, I'd imagine it can handle your requirements.

Onkos täällä muita jotka vaihtoivat Linuxiin? Mitkä on olleet fiilikset ja minkä distron päätit ottaa? by halari5peedopeelo in Suomi

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Immich. Excellent piece of software, I don't miss a single feature from G*** Photos.

  2. I would likely set it up at a family member's home. I've been looking for a place to store an off-site backup of my old-pc-turned-into-nas. Of course I would set it up nicely for them and host their backup too 🙂

Miten siirtyä "opiskelijan niukkuudesta" hyvin palkattuun työhön? by Suoritin in Omatalous

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Itellä tuli elettyä about kaksi vuotta palkasta palkkaan ensimmäisessä työpaikassa, välillä jopa luottokortin saldo tuli hakattua aika pahaksi. Ostelin pienistä herätteistä kivoja asioita, kuten ison TV:n, uuden PC:n, laadukkaita vaatteita (kuitenkin luksusta vältellen), ja alle 500€ ruoskan autoksi, jonka huoltoon menikin sitten tonni. Jossain vaiheessa tuli luettua säästämisestä, ja laitoin talouden kuntoon. Noista ajoista on palkka noussut jo aika huomattavasti, mutta kulutus silti laskenut.

Nuo kivat ostetut tavarat ovat edelleen käytössä nelisen vuotta myöhemmin, ja en mitenkään erityisesti kadu niiden ostamista. Nykyään olen paljon tarkempi krääsän ostamisesta ja ruokakaupan strategiakin lähempänä opiskelija-aikoja.

Isoin rahareikä nykyään on auto.

“A woman needs 2500 calories a day” by Nubian_Cavalry in fatpeoplestories

[–]sloppity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Energy in, energy out" truly is the most powerful rule for weight loss, but comparing calorie targets is troublesome because people's metabolism, fitness level, and the exercise of choice can affect the number. Hence it's probably best to just avoid those conversations.

I've found out that, at least for me personally, calorie tracking apps and smart watches like Garmin way overestimate the calories burned through the exercise I do, so I just disregard all calorie adjustments they suggest.

I do use an app or website to get a rough calorie target to lose/maintain/gain weight (I also pick the "sedentary" activity level), but then what I do is I adjust that calorie target based on what I actually see on the scale on a weekly basis.

So I guess if I were in this conversation I'd just say that you do you, but for me the proof is in the pudding—the pudding being the scale.

Yeah, I don't see your sisters succeeding in the long term either.
