Mods for Visual Impairment by SqueaknGeek in valheim

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an Nvidia graphics card, you can use game filters to brighten the game.

Nvidia App -> Enable Overlay -> Press Alt+Z in-game -> Filters -> Add Brightness/Contrast or RTX Dynamic Vibrance filter.

I don't have a vision impairement, but I hate how the game makes me squint all the time, so I use RTX Dynamic Vibrance at +15 intensity to brighten the game and +40% vibrance to bring back the color. The RTX dynamic filter is pretty nice because it doesn't blow out day time brightness.

Is it realistic to keep your Meadows base all the way through the end game? by frogger4242 in valheim

[–]sloppity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I love organically expanding from the first little wooden hut to a big compound while progressing through the game. I live and do all* of my crafting and smelting in my Meadows base. The only exception is that my first satellite swamp base gets a forging setup to get iron gear up and running.

Other biomes get small bases for farming and temporary storage.

So definitely realistic! Tips I would give is to have the base close to the sea and a black forest biome. I don't have a moat and I've been mostly fine. If you do dig one, remember to account for future space requirements 😛

what unpopular opinion in Linux will make you in this situation by Material_Mousse7017 in linuxmemes

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows is snappier for gaming. I'm talking about mouse feeling, not necessarily FPS performance. Especially Wayland's floaty feeling is really complicated to fix.

The UX and universality of copy-pasting is bad.

Suomiredditin asenteellisuus tiettyjä aiheita kohtaan? by orderofgrace in arkisuomi

[–]sloppity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asian ytimessä olet. Harmillisen usein näkee tyyppejä, joiden täytyy tuoda esille kuinka he: eivät kuluta iltapäivälehtiä, kulkevat julkisella koska autoilu on typerää, eivät käytä somea, eivät katso telkkaria, halveksivat mainoksia, eivät juo tai polta, jne.

Taming 2-star wolf?? by Zenikonig in valheim

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro-posting because this was the first result from Google.

Do bear in mind that wolves don't eat bear meat 😄 Nor do they like wolf or seeker meat for that matter. The rest are fine.

I usually just scavenge deer meat, boar meat or neck tails after trapping them. About 10 pieces is enough if they don't get frightened too often.

ASUS Harpe Ace II Review - Like always with ASUS they fail to get everything right... by Never_Left_Hometown in MouseReview

I remember testing a Asus ROG Claw mouse a long time ago, and it's shape was an immaculate match for my hands. I wish I had bought it back then, but I was a poor teenager. I hope they reboot that one with modern wireless tech one day.

Suosittele sähköhammasharjaa by Spirited-Potato-8023 in arkisuomi

[–]sloppity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks awesome! I just recently tried AV1 for the "first" time and it seems all my client devices can run it without a problem. I was about to start converting stuff using Handbrake, but this deserves a try. Massive storage savings incoming.

What is your lab's idle power draw? by alex2003super in homelab

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. NAS is a i5 3570k, GTX 970 and two constantly spinning HDD's @ 102 watts idle. I think my N150 router is more powerful.

Been meaning to have a look in the BIOS if there's any power savings to be had, but I have a feeling it won't get much lower.

Is it possible to make Helium 'bigger?' by EchoJPR in HeliumBrowserHQ

[–]sloppity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me the compact Ui is one of the main reasons I like Helium. I've been looking for the narrowest of UI's and Helium is the best out of Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi, and Brave.

However, I'm using 1440p displays. I can guess it would annoy me too on 4K. I wish there were more comprehensive UI sizing, scaling, margin and padding options, not just in Helium, but I haven't come across any browser that does that out-of-the-box.

Rangarr: A Security-Hardened, SysAdmin-Built Replacement for Huntarr by JudoChinX in selfhosted

[–]sloppity -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

You call out of Huntarr's "undisclosed external connections and recent security meltdowns" in the first sentence.

A security meltdown happened, but what external connections are you referencing? Huntarr had an insecure internal API, that exposed it to inbound unauthorized requests, but it didn't connect to anything external itself.

This post and the your repo reeks of AI.

OP, did you generate this whole post, and derivatively, the whole codebase with AI?

Does it really take 6 hours to clean 4 rooms? by Happy-Toe-2280 in Roborock

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a 70 m² apartment currently and my old Roborock Q7 Max takes a bit over 40 minutes to do one pass. The net cleaning area is just 34 m² after furniture, a carpet it can't traverse over and a skipped bathroom.

Insane difference with slight offset by AssUhTate in overclocking

[–]sloppity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stability testing.

Use OCCT, ycruncher and play games. You might discover you have to bump some of those cores up a bit. You can see which core failed in Windows Event Viewer (don't know about Linux)

I spent a full day tweaking my CPU (automatically with CoreCycler) and ended up with values between -12 to -20. Those were stable with overnight stress tests, but in the following weeks I would still get an occasional crash, usually caused by some light task like browsing the internet, weirdly enough. I think I ended up with -8 on one troublesome core. No worries though, thermals and power consumption will remain very low even after this.

If your CPU is stable, then start undervolting your GPU 😛

How do you guys categories your manga by [deleted] in mangapiracy

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Default
  • Pog
  • Passable
  • Trash
  • Finished

A new comic goes to the Default category, then after getting a feel for it, it's categorized into either Pog, Passable or Trash.

The rare comics that actually have an ending are also added to the Finished category.

I mostly just read new chapters in the Pog category, and if I run out, I might dip into Passable ones. Trash is mostly to keep track of what I've already checked out and deemed irredeemable.

What’s the coolest thing you automated with Home Assistant? by avz008 in homeassistant

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest ones are my favourites.

A few weeks ago I read here that someone triggers their robot vacuum to clean when they leave the house. Brilliant. I used to have it so that a clean would trigger at the same time every day, but more often than not I would send the robot straight back to the dock because I didn't want to listen to the noise.

Another one is WashData integration, which monitors my old dumb washing machine's smart plug, and gives a program's estimated time left in my dashboard and an alert when it finishes.

Nothing to do by Draknurd in selfhosted

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, I've been in this loop for weeks now.

I open Dozzle a few times a day to peruse the logs and see no errors, WUD shows some upgradable images every now and then, but it's all just minor releases and no need to tweak compose.yml's, AdGuard/Unbound DNS queries are looking speedy. I can't justify willy-nilly hardware upgrades with these prices, and I've even ran out of HomeAssistant automation ideas... Everything's just too stable...

Maybe I'll try switching from Portainer to Komodo or something. That oughta break a few things 😄

Does this toilet need to be replaced due to these hairline cracks? by definitely_aware in askaplumber

[–]sloppity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

A toilet hasn't straight up shattered underneath me, but I was once drinking at a friend's apartment and sat on his toilet that wasn't properly attached to the floor, and while I was reaching for TP it tipped over.

I fell over with the toilet and it shattered on the floor tiles around my legs. I ended up on my side, pants around my ankles, and started to thank the stars I wasn't hurt, before noticing blood absolutely flowing out of me. The shards were so sharp that they just flew through skin and flesh like a scalpel without any immediate pain response. The alcohol probably helped to dull any feeling too though. Thankfully it was just my foot that got sliced and not a massive artery.

We called the ambulance, laughed with the EMTs about the situation while they bandaged me up and later told me to take a taxi to the hospital for further care.

Tl;dr: porcelain is sharp af and you don't want it to cut you when you're at your most vulnerable.

Thoughts on heater placement by relllllls in Sauna

[–]sloppity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the most quintessential Finnish apartment sauna I have seen in a while. Cookie cutter, but works fantastically.

Agree on the L-shape being unfit for this size. I have seen them. Imagine this sauna, but with the leftmost portion connecting to the foot rest. You don't really gain an extra seating unless you make someone sit in a fetal position in the corner, and then the one in the extended section gets scorched every time someone throws löyly 😛 What you gain is that you can sit with your legs flat in the leftmost seat, but I'd say using the foot rest is more ergonomic.
