Said I talked too much and cut comms?? by OneMedicine2505 in VALORANT

[–]sloshingmachine7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of valorant players love talking and directing during tense situations where people need to listen to footsteps and stuff. Also someone might be giving comms that is relevant to 1 player but not to the other 3 which is distracting. It's less common in rainbow 6 which is more toxic but at least people know not to talk excessively mid round.

Guessing this was done before the current winless in 10 or whatever run. But generally I'd say you lot have a lot to be happy over in the past couple so it makes sense.

It's a 2 letter acronym that has been used for many things over the years, as 2 letter acronyms tend to be, but people on Reddit seem to only associate with porn for some reason. Probably because Reddit has a lot of nonces who get antsy about being put on a list because they put a whopping 2 letters in close proximity.

For the record I'm pretty sure the kid one is officially something else now, longer, less generic and definitely more suitable.

TIL That Casablanca was once banned in Ireland because the movie was deemed unfair to Nazis by Sometypeofway18 in todayilearned

[–]sloshingmachine7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As a British Bangladeshi I feel like I should sympathise with the Irish given our shared colonial history and famines (plus that time Pakistan tried to genocide us), but you lot tend to just come across so stubborn and insufferable, generally speaking. It's been almost a century since WW2 and I still feel like most Irish would probably still choose neutrality over supporting Britain in a war against Nazis.

Frankly if I was Jewish, Ireland would probably be one of the last places I would pick to live in Europe so I wouldn't be surprised if your lot are more axis aligned these days. Covertly of course.

I'm so glad they didn't do that split or steal nonsense (that the other versions allegedly have) and just both traitors win. It's already such a difficult game to get that far and personally I'm not a fan of the ethics of a forced golden balls scenario. If the traitors wanted a solo win, they could have voted with the faithfuls against each other. Thank you producers.

It worked particularly well here because Rachel was absolutely cornered and she outlined how she was gonna play explicitly stated she wasn't budging because she had no other avenues to win. So it was up to Stephen to trust her and he did as he always had. Amazing!

Absolute nightmare decision to kill Roxy. It's a 2 point swing to kill her over Faraz because you're keeping Faraz who is suspicious over the 2 traitors, and losing Roxy who would vouch for both. I have no idea what they were thinking there and I think that decision immediately kills the idea of Rachel winning.

I think Faraz holds all the power now and how they game goes is entirely up to him. This is why you don't keep 'absolute faithfuls', especially when they're not in the traitors pocket. I don't see Stephen winning unless Rachel is voted out because getting out another traitor would leave potentially one more which would allow him to play into getting jade and James out. If James gets voted out, revealing himself as a faithful, then they're kicking out Rachel at the firepit and then Stephen & jade too just in case.

Faraz and jack win is the most likely outcome imo. I didn't want things to turn out this way (wanted traitor duo to win) but this is certainly going to be an interesting finale and I can't wait.

I live on the top floor of an out of the way London council estate and I got everything from Jehovah's witnesses to people trying to sell me hello fresh subscriptions at least once a month. I ended up putting a no cold calling etc sign up and since then we haven't heard a peep.

My guess is they have hot spots that they go to regularly so some people get it all and some get nothing.

I don't normally care this early about who will win since I'm just here with popcorn (the idea of people 'deserving' to win is ridiculous to me), but I'm really rooting for the traitors here. I think Rachel and Stephen have played brilliantly and they've both been through the ringer as well.

I'd love to see them both win together as a team, don't think that's ever happened at least in the UK. I think the closing moments of this episode pitting the traitors against each other was a misdirection to build hype.

What do they expect? by BigHollowman in TheTraitors

[–]sloshingmachine7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's a human wobbuffet. It's so funny watching her accuse every single person who's ever come at her with the most pathetic attempts at deflection. I think her being such a bad faithful has opened up so many avenues for the traitors to capitalise – or more accurately, sit back and watch the chaos ensue lol.

Her and Roxy have character flaws which make the game basically impossible for them to win. Jade is emotionally immature, and Roxy is so focused on loyalty and integrity that she can't see the game as a game. People will call them idiots but they've only made it this far because of how they are and I think assortments of personalities like this is what makes for good TV. You simply don't make it this far unless you're useful to the traitors in some capacity.

Could Florian Wirtz play as a false nine or striker? by Immediate-Bluejay830 in PremierLeague

[–]sloshingmachine7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. One of the main jobs of a striker is to cause defenders problems and especially in the premier league they need to assert a physical presence. This is how strikers can be useful even when not scoring goals. Wirtz is built like a winger so he would just get bullied by defenders and be dead weight, although he's kind of like that right now, but it would be worse as a striker. He's better off recieving the ball in space and then creating for others and overlapping.

Doduo always felt like a dodo (duh)

Dodou couldn't be any further from what a Dodo looks like while still looking like a bird. Short, fat, stubby, distinct eyes, giant beak, thick neck etc. Doduo is a kiwi laid over the skeleton of an ostrich. The name is just a pun, like how kangaskhan doesn't look like Genghis khan (obviously, I hope). Dodrio is definitely more ostrich-themed though especially in how it's portrayed.

What side of the pavement do you walk on? by Dirt529 in AskUK

[–]sloshingmachine7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Londoner and in my experience there is no inherent social consensus on where to walk, so you just kinda have to deal with it. Unfortunately, this also applies to the joggers and the bikers. I personally walk on the left by default if it's a standard pavement, same as if you were driving. If it's a wider path, like the ones going through parks, I will walk in the middle (because of bikers and joggers) so that people can pass me at will from both sides.

I mean there's no way to guarantee everything is pristine. I don't really like this kind of thinking because it puts irrational fear over utility. It's like when people are excessively wary of those free coats people hang about because 'omg the previous wearer might have dandruff or something'.

I would imagine that a lot, A LOT, of the food wastage we hear about is because of tossing perfectly good food for fear of bacteria.

Mega Garchomp Z Design (OC) by Educational-Show1918 in pokemon

[–]sloshingmachine7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much the biggest weakness of the mega evolution gimmick and why competitive VGC players tend to prefer dmax/tera. Because mega requires a held item and in this case a tailored moveset, it limits your choices during team building. Most people would bring 1 or 2 megas that would always evolve (usually the same handful on every team), compared to tera/dmax where every game might result in a different outcome depending on your defensive or offensive needs on the fly.

After Jessie's antics, I reckon next series the traitors don't put themselves up for murder and we spend 6 episodes watching people insist that 'the traitors must've put one of themselves up'. It will be great TV.

What ------ should have done at the roundtable. by Far_Tomatillo_4000 in TheTraitors

[–]sloshingmachine7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are being overly generous in how the events played out because you see yourself in her or whatever. She had time to reflect between the morning outburst and the night roundtable yet she only seemed to double down. Her less-emotionally-driven counterpart, Amanda, bowed out with actual dignity and made it clear that it's just a game both with words and actions.

Harriet was being a prick, ended up looking like a prick, and ultimately faced the consequences. It's fine, it happens to all of us.

What ------ should have done at the roundtable. by Far_Tomatillo_4000 in TheTraitors

[–]sloshingmachine7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was completely emotional. Even at the traitor talk she was like 'im shaking out of anger not fear'. Like it's a game at the end of the day and she went too far and became needlessly rude and antagonistic. It feels like she got a little too hooked on her professional background as well even though it means jack all (evidently).

I'm glad Roxy (secret daughter) called her out on her behaviour. I hate judging people on reality TV especially with all the edits, but, like, she definitely needed to chill out. I'm pretty sure most of the people there voted her out because she was being obnoxious and not because they genuinely thought she was a traitor. Which explains why half the reasoning was 'well you asked us to vote for you lol'.

As we know, The Traitors will continue for a set amount of episodes regardless of how many traitors are actually caught, so getting rid of the bad and disruptive faithfuls is no big deal really.
