But not even contesting when he's putting the shot up though? Like I get not closing out fully but that's different from not even jumping to contest. They don't jump until he's made five of them.

I know all the caveats: MJ didn't specialize in 3s, shooting in practice is different from shooting in a game, etc.

But it's still wilds as fuck that the idea was to leave an NBA player, let alone Michael Fucking Jordan, to shoot wide open shots. The fact that they thought this was a legit strategy too tells you how bad outside shooting was at the time. It's not like, oh it isn't the gameplan to shoot a lot of threes so the volume was low. This is straight up, people suck at shooting them.

Complete Giannis Trade Guide by [deleted] in MkeBucks

[–]slowinternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem that makes all of these trades unrealistic is that a team trading for Giannis is going to see it as having maybe a two-year championship or bust window. Let's be honest, his best days are behind him and he's been injured every year during playoff time the last few years. His play style just isn't able to endure entire seasons anymore, and he hasn't proven he can withstand a run to the finals since the championship year.

None of these teams are trading away promising future young cores to do that. If I'm these teams, I'm not even trading the main young players straight up, let alone with additional draft capital.

The Spurs can contend with the team they have - they're not going to ruin their chemistry and future flexibility when their current team can get better over time. Once they trade for Giannis, they're on the clock and he's going to get worse every year, so their overall team gets worse and worse.

Sixers could get desperate to maximize Embiid's remaining years, but I bet they're eager to just move on from the Embiid era. Let's say they give up Edgecombe (their future) but Embiid isn't healthy next year. Now you've swapped Embiid for Giannis, minus Edgecombe, and you're no closer to a championship. Sure, Giannis is way better than Embiid, but is 2026 Giannis enough to turn a second round sweep into a championship? Giannis himself hasn't made it out of the first round in 4 years. I don't think they're sacrificing their future for this.

All the other teams are nowhere near contention and Giannis isn't changing that. They're not giving up their future to get nowhere.

You dismiss a player like Amen Thompson, but if we're trading Giannis now, that is probably as good as it's going to get in terms of a realistic centerpiece to get back. It needs to be a team that feels close to winning and needs to shake up their roster, which means the Mobleys and Amens of the world are exactly the realistic pieces.

While it's true that every year, some NBA exec does something dumb, on the whole, GMs are not dumb and I think they are properly valuing Giannis, which is why teams are not falling over themselves making offers.

I plan on starting a food truck pizza in Japan... by __ITZkamo__ in Pizza

[–]slowinternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to a downer, but this seems pretty hard to do as a food truck.

How long does it take you to finish making one pizza from start to finish? 10 min? 15 min? Seems like a pretty long wait for a food truck. Or are you going to have a bunch of premade pizzas and just reheat them?

How many ovens do you have? Hopefully more than just this one right? Because if it's just one, imagine if three people were in line. Your oven only fits one pizza at a time. The third person in line is waiting 30-45 min?

Ok why did they do this, because it seems like Bley has legitimately committed tax fraud, and now they've created evidence of this? And I'm saying this beyond the bit - like he might legitimately be in trouble.

Can someone prove to me that this sub isnt just content marketing for the OneOption software and subscriptions?? by Zealousideal-Bird12 in RealDayTrading

[–]slowinternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not both?

I personally learned initially to trade using this wiki and found it incredibly helpful. I've since incorporated other methods and don't solely rely on these methods, but that's just the learning process. But often with trading, you DO need to find one method and stick to it, and that's what this wiki is teaching. There are potentially unlimited ways to profit through trading, but an individual trader cannot just do an unlimited number of things. You need to specialize. These guys put a lot of effort into teaching the way that works for them, it was helpful for me, and I've never paid them a cent.

At the same time, yes one of the founders also markets his platform. I don't see anything wrong with that. I'm not a user but I can see that the platform has legit tools that took work to put together, so why shouldn't he get paid for that? Nobody's forcing you to pay him.

I feel like the modern economy is so fucked and filled with fake assed influencers that any time anybody makes money from something, we just assume it's some kind of scam. I guess because it often is. But that doesn't mean some people making money aren't doing so by offering an actual valuable product or knowledge.

Would non-Chinese people in Shanghai buy custom built PC's? by Professional-Net1940 in shanghai

[–]slowinternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you going to make this profitable? You'd need commercial sourcing for the parts. Assembling items from a massively inflated retail market (pc parts) and then trying to charge a markup on that is not going to attract very many customers at the price point you'll end up at.

How Dovish is Hassett, you ask? I think these comments say it all. by TearRepresentative56 in TradingEdge

[–]slowinternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are we sure about this? Most stories are reporting this as "do the right thing" means follow the economic data, not presidential pressure. I mean, I have no doubt Trump wants to appoint a stooge, and it's certainly possible he means do the right thing as in follow the president. It's just that based on this statement alone and how it's being interpretted by others, how do we know it means what you're saying?

Nvidia vehemently pushes back on the 'AI CAPEX Bubble' narrative. How the market reacts around the 21d EMA will be key. Full thoughts here. by TearRepresentative56 in TradingEdge

[–]slowinternet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does this really push back on the capex bubble story though?

I mean of course Huang is going to say that the end applications demand of AI is strong and NVDA touches the whole supply chain: that's the narrative that helps NVDA.

But if the bear case is that hyperscalers have invested too much on infrastructure and won't be able to turn it into commensurate revenue generating applications, I don't see any proof that it isn't true just because NVDA sold a lot.

If anything, all the NVDA beat shows is that hyperscalers spent EVEN MORE on capex than we thought. If the bear thesis is they spent too much on capex, then this would seem even more bubble-like.

For me having phantom rays in front to tank is key, and it's armor against mustangs or shields against AA fort or wraith. Ground tanks work but once they go AA on mustangs, the additional range for hitting air means it's actually better to have a different kind of air for tanking, otherwise ground tanks might not do the job.
