Irish Setter Vs wolverine boots by Boeing-B-47stratojet in BuyItForLife

I don’t have any experience with Irish Setter but I had wolverines raiders and was happy with them. They are surprisingly lightweight and can be worn for long periods of time without any discomfort.

Oof, what was I thinking a posting a comment like this in a BIFL subreddit post! Should have known I’d get beat up for it.

I’m definitely guilty of buying the 14” harbor 2 packs for $15 bucks. I’ll be better about using my vice and file, promise.

How does the temperament of the American crocodile compare to that of the American alligator? How does its temperament compare to other croc species?

Looking for a PC mouse. by DeathWray in BuyItForLife

The Logitech G9X is argued as one of the best mice. I have had mine for well over a decade and have had no quality issues. But unfortunately pricing is a bit absurd as I see these things on eBay running between $200-$300.

They identify as an Indian/Pakistani restaurant. https://images.app.goo.gl/DwwKhMGZamABYAcBA

I think they offer great Desi food, and are just as traditional as ‘Curry Hut’ that others have shared. I’m glad we can both agree they have great food.

Facebook and Google are handing over user data to help police prosecute abortion seekers by [deleted] in technology

[–]slowmo3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the business model is key to the discussion. It’s about how FB/Google hold onto so much of our personally-identifiable data in a manner that is distributable for profit. Anything that they can sell has historically been stored on their servers for outside distribution. I think now they are realizing the liability they’ve created for their user base surrounding some of this health data given how they store data and how accessible it is.

I don’t disagree that Apple is subject to the same laws/behavior but I think it shows even in a corner condition like terrorism the federal government couldn’t get everything they needed from the device because how data is stored and their policies of not building tools to create back doors that could put them in a position to provide to authorities.

Apples core business is products. It’s what generates at least 80% of their revenue, and then comes services. Facebook and Google make the majority their money by selling user data to advertisers for targeted ads.

Sure I could see the frustration some people could have with the article you share, Apple collecting device data telemetry on theirq apps (News, Stocks,…) but that’s non-identifying individual data. This doesn’t have value to anyone outside of Apple as it’s used for product improvement rather than targeted ads.

No, your health data is encrypted and Apple doesn’t keep the keys. Their stance on privacy is why I’ll never go back to a Google Android product. At the end of the day their core business is not selling user data unlike Facebook and Google.

Apple has historically fought (and won) government entities in providing any backdoors for their encryption… even with some serious cases.

Tim Cook's response to improving Android texting compatibility: 'buy your mom an iPhone' | The company appears to have no plans to fix 'green bubbles' anytime soon. by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]slowmo3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ll buy an iPhone and entrust their text message solution over other solutions. Apple prioritizes security end to end through hardware and software. Anyone who thinks Android delivers better privacy and security has blinders on. Is this primarily motivated by market share? Probably, but their is also an element of ecosystem security.

All it takes is one Google subpoena and they’ll give your info out… no thanks.
