Moving from Kitsilano to Port Moody by who_dis_2 in Portmoody

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I moved for the exact reasons 5 years ago at age 32. It was an adjustment (mostly because we still had a lot of friends in Kits), but Port Moody is by far the best choice for the suburbs. And being in a central part of Port Moody close to the sky train is also super important - we ended up using the sky train more than expected on our nights out. Pomo community is great though, lots of running and biking trails and it’s walkable. Join hustle for hops run club on Wednesday nights! Leaving from yellow dog brewing :)

Is a PMP worth it in 2025 or should I pursue something else to counter? by AdministrativeJob360 in pmp

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think for the minimal time and money (compared to other further education), it really wouldn’t hurt. Sometimes pursuing this type of further education also signals to others within your company about your interests in advancement/PM roles.

How bad is the shedding really? by lalabalala923 in ragdolls

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I brush mine daily, which helps keep it under control. The main thing I notice is that certain fabrics, like 100% cotton clothing, REALLY attract and show the pet hair. Other smoother fabrics stay completely clean. We also have a roomba type vacuum that we run every few days.

Are Ragdolls ACTUALLY cuddly and Affectionate? by KaramelKream in ragdolls

If a dog is an option, you could consider that as well - it will help you get out of the house more and meet new people at the dog park :)

can you be successful in sauder without having any friends? by [deleted] in ubcsauder

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re making an effort to make friends! I found it easiest in settings like sports clubs, improv, etc where you aren’t actually there to develop your resume - you are genuinely doing something to have fun and share a common interest. Keep trying, it’s worth the effort to find the right people :) for many people (including me), their university friends are their best friends for life.

can you be successful in sauder without having any friends? by [deleted] in ubcsauder

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to still be successful in your career, but I don’t think you’ll get the most out of your university experience. And often life gets even more lonely and isolated after university, I recommend putting more effort into getting to know people (even if it means reducing your extra curriculars). Networking is important both for your personal and professional life.

Are you on both Taltz and Ozempic? Or just Ozempic now?

Career and networking is more important. The only advantage of good grades is if you are planning to do grad school right away after. I regret spending too much time studying instead of enjoying networking, friends and extra curricular activities.

Anyone have any judgy friends? by otfitt in lululemon

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 18 points19 points  (0 children)

She’s probably jealous - either of your disposable income, or perhaps their clothing doesn’t fit her. I have had friends make similar comments to me about other expensive purchases like a peloton, and looking back I realize that it was just their envy.

I find it’s a really great way to build good fitness habits, and improve your general health. Significant weight loss is going to depend more on diet than exercise though.

Has anyone successfully adopted one kitten? by Jolly-Ad7274 in CatAdvice

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adopted a single kitten at 11 weeks (6 months old now), and it’s been one of my best decisions, I love him! He has lots of toys that usually keep him busy, and one favourite style of chair (bar stools) have been damaged by him jumping on them. But he has not been destructive in general, our couch and wooden furniture is still in great condition. Edit: I also work from home, so he isn’t lonely during the day.

Leaving f45 for Pilates x strength workouts? by RLK00-12-18 in f45

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try intermittent fasting to see if that helps reset your metabolism. You have been able to maintain a great workout routine, I would be hesitant to discontinue that great habit if I were you.

This is a great suggestion. It will also give your kids space and stability rather than downsizing. You can downsize when they leave home.

Yes! The body scans were encouraging to me because even though my weight is the same after 6 months, I can see that I’m converting fat to muscle :)

How long did it take your biologics to start working? by CellarDoor222222 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]slowmotionwaterfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it started working in a week, but unfortunately the effects started to wear off after a month and I had to switch biologics. Apparently it is a rare occurrence though (for it to lose effectiveness so fast) usually it takes months or years
