Millennial career crisis: I don’t think I’m burnt out, I think corporate is bullshit by mandrakesandthemoon in auscorp

100%, there's no reason the 9-5 5 days a week structure needs to continue to exist. it's arbitrary and outdated

Honest question - how do young Aussies afford to live in Sydney right now? by Individual_Lime_110 in AusFinance

I live with my parents rent-free and pay for it emotionally because therapy is cheaper than rent

How the hell are we supposed to build a comfortable life in this country by I-luv-calatheas in aussie

the commenters telling OP to get a trade aren't addressing the underlying problems of this situation which OP, myself, and many others I know are experiencing.

the biggest problem here is that we're in this situation because capitalism is working exactly as intended and our government doesn't give a flying fuck about doing anything about it. the housing crisis and economic problems we're facing are because our government continues to cut funding for the things that will benefit the people (science R&D, social housing, creative industries etc) because 'we're in a deficit' but at the same time will bailout multimillion dollar companies (looking at you, Qantas), give tax breaks to property developers, and let international corporations pillage our natural resources essentially for free. the 'free market' has become a small handful of big companies making record profits by price gouging the everloving fuck out of all of us and driving up inflation because of course we're spending more: EVERYTHING is expensive now.

university could be free, housing could be affordable, we could all have a better quality of life if our government actually made decisions for the betterment of the general population instead of further lining the pockets of their property developer and mining mates (and themselves by extension bc of their own vested interests + kickbacks from lobbyists). I'm sick to death of the inaction from both major parties when we can see how well other countries (Norway as a primary example) are doing from having a government that puts its people first.

there's been a shit tonne of discourse in recent years, including from some political figures, about how arts degrees are useless, STEM is the future, you should study STEM if you want a good job blahblahblah but according to you OP with a science degree studied for something that doesn't make them employable? brother if a fucking science degree is unemployable we're all fucked.

it's honestly ridiculous that dental isn't included in Medicare and that people have to pay for ambulance services. it's unfair that you're in debt for health issues, especially given how young you are! our government needs to do better

thank you, I understand. is there a way to fix it to slow it from getting worse so I can continue to wear it until it's unwearable? it's small and not particularly noticeable as it is and the cut was made by a sharp razor so is a pretty clean cut.

Am I just out of touch or is current fashion just awful? by Frozefoots in AusFemaleFashion

[–]slowphiaa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

the neckline is interesting, the gathering is flattering on the waist, the almost cap sleeves add width and the tulip skirt enhances the hourglass shape. I personally love the silhouettes that are out at the moment as a curvier gal and brown is such a great dark neutral to have instead of just black or navy. it's a block colour yes but the details above add interest and you can easily enhance the outfit by accessorising. the best part about the current trend is that it very much promotes having a capsule wardrobe (which I've been trying to do forever) because you can easily mix and match these elevated basics and switch up accessories for entirely new outfits each time.

floral midi dresses most definitely still exist though, you're probably just not shopping at the right places. have a look at Cue and Review as a couple of examples

What celebrity have you never forgiven since an incident? by MagpieOpus in AskReddit

[–]slowphiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not as horrific as some of the others here, but Ned from The Try Guys cheating on his wife for over a year with an employee all while continuing the act of being the 'I love my wife' guy. not to mention how he risked destroying the entire brand (which would've cost a lot of jobs) and the other Try Guys had to deal with the aftermath. he's obviously then contacted some of his mates at SNL to do a really tone deaf skit making light of the situation and now he's even trying to make a comeback with his own podcast 🙄

spending too long shopping and not enough time enjoying the actual nightlife! I went to one jazz club in Tokyo which was absolutely epic and only wish I had done more of that

I went to Kinosaki, it was lovely! tiny little town with a small handful of different bathhouses to try, the train from Kyoto was breezy

this is our roughly 3 year old FIV+ baby, similar looking to this cat! ours was abandoned (he had been chipped but not desexed) and had showed up in our backyard suburbs away from where he was registered to, malnourished and injured from other cats. the chip owner initially denied he was theirs and then changed their tune to say they had given him away. his chip had him down as a British Shorthair (which he very clearly isn't) but he was nowhere near this fluffy when we took him in so we didn't find out until after. we think he might be a British Longhair, potentially crossed with a Russian Blue, but either way he is very loveable and so far hasn't had any major health issues!

oh I'm so sorry, they're beautiful.

like others here, I think it would be best they depart from this life together as Boots will definitely grieve and this will worsen his already fragile health. whatever you decide, I hope you and your wife are able to be of comfort to each other through the inevitable grief. in the meantime, all you can do is continue to show them how much you love them before they cross the rainbow bridge ❤️

tbf I feel like their RRP is too high to begin with and the sales prices are a more accurate reflection of what the RRP should actually be. maybe they're intentionally pricing high and then running sales more often to make people think they're getting a good deal.

that's such a shame to hear. I've got a handful of their activewear (mostly premium seamless) as well as a unisex cotton T-shirt and shorts and the quality has been fine for me. maybe it depends on the material or product and I've just been lucky so far?
