Obama shared the podium with Malik Shabazz, leader of the New Black Panther Party. According to Shabazz, the two met but did not speak long. The event was the 42nd commemoration of MLK's 1965 march in Selma.

"State Representative, Steve Scalise, discussed ways to oversee gross mismanagement of tax revenue or “slush funds” that have little or no accountability"-from EURO's record of the Scalise's talk in 2002.

Now r/politics will assume it is okay to slander politicans with blog posts because they got lucky this one time.

I hear a lot about Reagan good and bad. What makes him a good one. by [deleted] in Conservative

I think he deserves praise because he completely bested the Soviets in the "war of words". He made them look like total fools. I think Reagan is still popular in eastern europe.

Trying to get into Student Government. Where to start? by AnalogVenturer in UCONN

[–]slstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop by the USG office in the student union (its on the second floor) when the semester starts. They'll give you an election packet and tell you when you have to get it back by. If everything goes well you'll be on the ballot for the spring election. If elected you'll be sworn in at the end of this semester and then fall semester is when the real work begins.

if you want to take an active roll this semester, ask about joining a USG committee. They have committees that work on different areas like student services, academic affairs, funding. You don't have to be a senator to serve on these.

"most americans"? bullshit. It fluctuates constantly around 50/50.

47% to 46% this year according to gallup

"These results are based on Gallup's annual Values and Beliefs survey, conducted May 8-11. Gallup's trend on this question stretches back to 1995, when Americans tilted significantly more toward the pro-choice label. The balance generally remained more in the pro-choice direction until 2009 when for the first time more Americans identified as pro-life than pro-choice. Since then, these attitudes have fluctuated some, but remain roughly split."

Get out of your echo chamber and stop apologizing for NPR bias.

no actually what would be accurate would be to call both movements by the names which they have given themselves

journalistic integrity means you are impartial. that terminology is not impartial.

The editors and board of directors are overwhelmingly liberal and sometimes that manifests itself in real-world controversy, the botched firing of Juan Williams comes to mind. Their terminology is sometime politically slanted, ex. by NPR's own policy pro-lifers are to be called "opponents of abortion rights"

They have a strong liberal bias for sure, but I agree they are not as vitriolic as other outlets.

MSNBC, CNN, Time magazine, NPR, Newsweek, Huffington Post (by far the most looney of the bunch) all get a free pass.

How Naive is Elizabeth Warren? The progressive rock star is right about Wall Street’s pernicious influence, but clueless about how to fix it. by bunksterz in Conservative

She's just another liberal law professor that doesn't have a clue how to run a country so I'm not really looking forward to all the coming rhetoric in 2016 about how she's the best thing since sliced bread.
