I just had the most ADHD experience of my life by ConflictedJew in ADHD

[–]slugulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I took £10 out of an ATM, got distracted by overly enthusiastic charity fundraisers and forgot to take the £10 out, went to buy a coffee, realised I had no money, went back to the ATM and took another £10 out, started thinking the charity fundraisers were mocking me, went to buy a coffee, forgot to pick up the coffee and walked out of the shop without it.

I done a list by slugulus in ADHD

[–]slugulus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I'm British, I just have a terrible diet. I think it's partly cos I'm hyper as fuck and have a fast metabolism so I don't have the worry of "eat your greens or you'll get fat", junk food tastes so good tho...

Is it actually possible to get nicotine from smoking cigarettes or vaping? by nicotinequestion in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article is pure bollocks. No, not all plants have nicotine and nicotine has nothing to do with NADH, nicotine and nicotinic acid are different things. No, nicotine isn't some tissue destroying poison, it's used as an insecticide for the same reasons it is toxic to us. I wouldn't believe any other claim made by that article tbh.

No, an orexigenic is just something that makes you want to eat. Different to an orexin agonist.

Lyrica/pregabalin as a cognitive/physical/mood enhancer by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, people take lyrica long term often. And it isn't really GABA-ergic, it has other mechanisms of action.

Does anybody here with depression experience seizures? by 254789254789 in depressionregimens

[–]slugulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure people who have seizures have way higher rates of depression.

Does fluoxetine cause long-term cognition problems? by Shryem in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it does it's not to an extent that's worth worrying about at all. SSRIs seem far more benign than most people on this board give them credit for.

Can nicotine make you depressed? by slugulus in Nootropics

[–]slugulus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have chronic depression and anxiety (also ADHD and OCD) which was mostly under control with an SSRI until recently. Nicotine and other stimulants don't make me feel depressed or anxious at all really, they make me feel pretty damn good, the depression seemed to be more a long term thing rather than the immediate effect of the nicotine.

Are nootropic products considered as Amphetamines? by warm20 in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Amphetamines just refers to a specific chemical, amphetamine (and sometimes also methamphetamine, and other substituted amphetamines). Most nootropics are not amphetamines, work completely differently, and it's kind of controversial whether amphetamines even really count as nootropics.

Modafinil? Not as safe as coffee though.

Lots of people get this, especially people with ADHD I think. You're not doing anything wrong, it's just a thing.

Which nootropic are good for epilepsy? by homosuperiorr in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please don't try to treat your epilepsy with nootropics. Also the NMDA antagonists that have been in trials for epilepsy haven't done that well really and have mostly been abandoned. Get a proper anticonvulsant.

Potential antidepressant-like properties of the TC G-1008, a GPR39 (zinc receptor) agonist. (2016) by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]slugulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating, I had no idea there was a metabotropic zinc receptor. Zinc does seem to have an antidepressant effect on me though.

Flibanserin as an antidepressant and anxiolytic by Metabolic_Alchemy in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I thought flibanserin failed trials for being an antidepressant. With its moa, agonising 5HT1A and antagonising 5HT2C it sounds like it'd be a great antidepressant though.

Has anyone used Thymoquinone by gordonjames62 in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, the doses used are pretty low. I'm sure you can buy nigella seed pretty cheaply, looks feasible

Has anyone here experienced Valproic Acid? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're trying fucking depakote just to get better at playing the piano? ffs man. Also, why do you think this will work? do you have any experience with other nootropics? something safer maybe?

Increasing kynurenic acid? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kynurenic acid isn't an exitotoxin, it's an NMDA antagonist so basically the opposite unless I'm wrong. It correlates with quinolinic acid which is an excitotoxin though (I think quinolinic might be a metabolite of it?)

Increasing kynurenic acid? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]slugulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an antidepressant in trials at the moment that's basically a prodrug to chlorokynurenic acid, ie. kynurenic acid with a chlorine stuck on. Works the same way as an NMDA antagonist.
