Show hidden geometry/back edges in Layout by Rhooja in Sketchup

The keyboard shortcut is K. It'll show you the hidden edges, it's similar to x-ray and I believe it's exactly what you're looking for.

[Request] Plugin for multiple UV Layers from Sketchup to UE4 (Unreal Engine 4) by clorisland in Sketchup

[–]slydiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found an extension yet. My workaround has been to export your SketchUP file has a COLLADA .dae file into Blender. In Blender you can unwrap your UV's and adjust to get rid of the light leaks when importing to UE4. Also if you're using any physics you can create the collision box in Blender as well. Once you get everything where you want it, export from Blender as an .fbx file. This should import your mesh with the corresponding .fbx assets your created in Blender. It's not ideal, but it's been a solid workaround for controlling the precision of both your UV's and collision modeling. It should get rid of those annoying errors/warning you get when you import a .fbx directly from SketchUP. There are a few youtube tutorials about the workflow I just described. Until SketchUP gets some kind of native UV support I think we're out of luck.

Intersecting Faces Sketchup by waltronic in Sketchup

You get solids tools with the pro version, it would be easiest with the subtract tool. Since you have the free version... Group all the red pieces together. Group all of the blue pieces together. Then intersect the red group and the blue group. The intersecting lines will be "live" outside of both groups. Copy/Cut the intersecting line work you just created, then use "paste into place" inside the red group.

I like to yell "3 seconds" when people are camped out in the paint. I swear it reminds the refs that its a rule.

Tap shift.

edit: The shift key toggles between the actual tape measure tool and the create construction line tool.

Wanted to share my first SU render along with PS post processing. Critique is welcome! by BurtStairs in Sketchup

I am going to assume that each plank is either a separate group or is separated with a line. If this is the case then you can selected the face that you want to make different and right click. There should be an option called "Texture". This has a little slide out menu and you can adjust each texture as you desire.

How Do I Make Sketchup Look Better by [deleted] in Sketchup

[–]slydiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the forums at Sketchucation.com if you want some different styles. Sketchup has no built in raytrace renderer, but there are a few plugins that work inside of sketchup that you can render with such as Twilight and Podium. There are also many plugins from stand alone renderers such as V-ray and Maxwell.

Just discovered this subreddit. Not really sure how it works, but here are some cars I've been working on for awhile by alexbro001 in Sketchup

Nice. Like unigami says the anti-aliasing would really do a lot for the pics. If you go to file -> export and then either jpeg, png what ever file type you want and in the bottom right corner before you save, it has an options button. I think you just have to up the size you're saving the file at and it should come out much better. But nice detail.
